My Bosch 36v compact drill only works intermiterly, i thought this could be the bushes but have been told that there isn't any in this model. Please help somebody......

Ok about changing the brushes but have you searched if the place where the brushes are located allow the brushes to move forward freely or they are in a way were narrowed so that the brushes can only move for few millimeters?
Have you removed the 4 gearbox screws? the cover should lift off. sometimes if a brush holder has over heated then the two halves get stuck together in places.
Once you have removed the 4 screws holding the gearbox to the main body take off the right hand half of the housing leaving the left half on the work bench. Unscrew the 2 screws that hold the brush holders down and remove the old brushes and refit with new ones. Rebuild in reverse.
One possibility is that the trigger on your drill has a short in it. When you replaced the brushes did you clean off your commutator? I am assuming that you did. You only need to clean the brush dust off of it and ensure the copper contacts are clean. Your issue is definitely with your drill. I am not sure about Bosch but with some drills you can take apart the trigger and check for contamination. Hope this helps.
It is more than likely the connections between the battery and the drill or the battery itself. If you look at the leads on the drill there are two large connections that can get bent along with smaller curved connection. If these connectors get bent It is hard to maintain a connection to the battery.
The 10A has not been sold in several years. I assume your batteries are old as well. Hilti has made great improvements over the years to their batterie tools. They still produce 36V hammer drills but now they are Lithium Ion batteries.
There are black access panels on each side if the drill toward the rear. Remove the screw that holds them in, and remove the panel. This will expose the bruch holder, take a small screw driver and carefully remove the old brushes and replace them. Replace the panels.
Push or pull the business end toward the body while gently pressing and rotating the bit into it. The chuck will snap back up to retain the bit when you have it lined up right.
