If this is the origianal radio that came with the car, go to your local BMW dealer with proof of ownership and they will help you for a small fee. You can also go on line and with the details of the radio make and serial number taken of the lable on the radio, the same info can be obtained again for a small fee. Type in "car radio security code" in your search engine. Personally I would go to your dealer.

Record your VIN number and call the dealer with the year model and VIN, they will call the manufacturer and call you back with the radio code. Safe driving.
If the radio is displaying code wait, or wait, then the ignition and radio must remain on for 1hour. I would contact a dealer within the USA and provide them with your radio serial number. The serial number can be displayed in the radio by pressing and holding down the "M" button while turning on the ignition.
If the radio displays code or wait, then you have to make sure the ignition stays on for 1 hour before trying to enter the code. It is also possible the dealer gave you the wrong code. BMW had 3 different makers of radios back then. Blaupunkt, Pioneer, and Alpine. Make sure they checked which maker of your radio was.
