Usually CD rotates in the clockwise direction. Whenever you are using CD which your CD player cannot detect then CD is rejected and suddenly CD rotates in anticlockwise direction.
Also, If your player is older and your CD players laser head worn out then CD's which were played good previously cannot be played properly and then stop in middle, when this happens you can see CD rotating in anti direction.
Clean the laser head, with CD cleaner and do not use scratched CD's

the sensor for the table cna't read the table movement. it's an optic sensor and it might be dirty or obstructed. you can open up the unit and blow out any dust with canned air. check the sensor for damage.
