I turn my camera on and saw horizontal ble lines when trying to view a tape. The Camera is a Panosonic DV GS15. Is it necessary to get the video head changed or is there another solution to this problem?
If you dont have time to get it fixed, tap on the side where the tape goes in. I had to tap it a couple of times before everything started work fine again.
Check the tape tab. It may need to be opened to allow playback or dubbing.
Well I had to take mine back to the service center. They said the blue lines had nothing to do with the tape tab. They cleaned it and replaced the UP unit (whatever that is I guess the part that the tape fits into when the camera is opened and slides up and down). They cleaned the head and said make sure the camera has time to change temperature when moving from hot to cold areas.

I had my camera heads replaced twice under warranty to eliminate blue lines it is a head problem. I believe the camera is very easy for the heads to misalign. It is working now but when it acts up it will also eat the tape inside
I have the same problem on my PV-DV953D, but the lines are red. They show up 90% of the time in any light condition.
This is usually caused by an oxidized or defective Audio/Video drum. Try running a cleaning tape through the camera. If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be repaired qualified service technician.

I have the same problem. It shows up on the LCD during playback and even during the video transfer to the PC.
I have the same problem and I got a head cleaning tape at Circuit city It helped but it still happens when I haven't used the camera for awhile.
I have the same problem as well plus it shows up when viewing on a TV too.
Have same blue lines. Just happened. Has worked fine before, but have not used much since I bought it four years ago. I'll try cleaning head, and see if lines go away. (or were they copied into the recording by a dirty head??? )
I have the exact same problem...blue horizontal lines on playback regardless tape, TV or PC. Is there a devise that can play back the DV tapes other thann the recorder itself?
