Do not use Remove fake software or PC Doctor. Do not download anything. Herdprotect.com is free, no registry needed and uses cross platform scanning from the web allowing multiple scanners to detect and remove malware. It is a peer reviewed program. Google before you try.

Before using your spyware software , you should close all applications and disconnect your access to the internet (cable modem, DSL, phone line or wireless connection). Now you are ready to run a scan. Initiate your software and let it scan your computer and then use the removal tool to get rid of spyware it locates. Now reboot your computer and run the scan and remove functions a second time. If the software finds any spyware the second time you run the scan, then you should run the scan and removal a third time in safe mode. If the first two scans didn't work, the one in safe mode should.

My webroot anti virus wont let me do a scan... what could be wrong or how can i fix this problem.

All Webroot products as of August 2011 were replaced by Webroot SecureAnywhere, which resolves all issues with prior products including SpySweeper and Webroot Antivirus. Existing users should visit the Webroot site for a free upgrade to SecureAnywhere.

I have webroot antivirus and spysweeper on this home computer, but my husbands laptop has no security on his at all. Now he has gotten something called Security Tool virus on his and we CANNOT GET RID OF...

He is learning the hard way!!

Install "malwarebytes" free from the internet (Best free anti-spyware on the net) / install / update / full scan / remove everything that shows.

My strong advice is to PAY for an anti-virus program as they are far superior to free ones.

Webroot spysweeper with antivirus won't open anymore

My advice: uninstall it, and install the _free_ anti-virus software from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials
which does _NOT_ require any "key".

Webroot 6.1 Antivirus/SpySweeper won't open after install

Dear User,

Though Webroot 6.1 Antivirus works fine on Windows 7, but its Spyweeper (anti spywear), is not seems to be compatible with Windows 7.

You can look for the version of webrrot that is fully compatible with windows 7.
OR
You can go to the free versions of Antivirus availables for Windows 7 (as AVG Free).

Thanks

I have a alphaAV virus my webroot antivirus did not stop it how do i git rid of it ?

You should update your anti-virus regularly. If your anti-virus can still update it's database then it can help solve the problem but if it can't update anymore then try to system restore your computer from the time where it is not infected and update your anti-virus immediately.

Alleged conflict mcafee w webroot spy sweeper

Hi,
If spysweeper was installed then you should find it in "add remove programs" (XP) or "programs and features" (Vista) both can be found in the control panel.
When you open it look for webroot.
If it's not there type regedit in the search or run box, click on edit and select find, type webroot into the text box and search for any registry entry relating to spysweeper (webroot).
If your registry finds an entry click on find next and keep on doing this until the registry is cleared, then restart your PC and try and update Mcafee.
If you can't find any registry entry relating to webroot your PC maybe infected with spyware, malware or a virus. In that case i would perform a deep scan of the system whether your antivirus is updated or not.

Good luck and please post back if you need anymore help.

I purchased mcafee viruscan(downloaded it actually) and it has a problem because I have webroot spysweeper on my comp. I tried to delete the webroot, but I cannot. I used CCleaner(didnt work), I tried...

yep ..it does happen sometimes with this kinda anti-viruses ..I even get it once with avira into a pc...it has protected files ,,and all they say is that installation has been unsuccessful ..like you I tried..all kinda miracle programs to remove ...even some move-on-boot ..made by a Russian that worked like a charm till than ...solution ....??? if you really want to get rid of that ..you have to reinstall the operation system ...and my advise is to proceed for a AVG 8.5 free... its reliable ..simple ..efficient free and you can set it to scan when you want to do what you want even to update daily at what hour you want..

Webroot spy sweeper is having problems

CLEAN INSTALL needed here.
Try uninstalling again, but this time after the uninstall, shut down completely for at least 30 seconds, and then restart.
Then do a search for 'all files and folders' - search for both Spysweeper and then Webroot, with the options "Search system folders", "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search subfolders" checked. Delete all of those files found.
You should do this search and delete whenever you uninstall any programs. It will remove lots and lots of leftover junk files and corrupted files taking up room on your hard drive. It will also give you a "clean install" when you reinstall or install an updated program. (Do this ESPECIALLY when updating to a NEW anti-virus programs and “Internet Security Suite” programs such as McAfee or Norton etc.)
BEFORE RE-INSTALLING PowerProducer
Download and install "Registry Mechanic" then do the updates prior to running it and removing anything for the first time. This will get rid of all your current Registry errors, prior to installing or reinstalling.
