My camera wont read memory cards anymore. It was working just fine, then the next picture I tried taking it said "memory card error" and the memory card works in other cameras, and my camera turns on and I can navigate thru it. What could be wrong?

Hello

OK, if the memory card itself is locked, you might sometimes get this error code. All you need to do is to take out the memory card and switch the lever on the left side to the unlock.

My camera wont read memory - 6c99e31.jpg

If the error is still displayed after you did the above, you might want to try the card in another camera.

If the card works in another camera . the problem is with your card reader in your camera.

If you open you sd slot and look inside with a sharp light , you should be able to see on the left side of the slot there is a little copper or spring steel lever switch. This switch work as follows:

1. When no card is inserted / no write protection , the switch is open and thus the protection is off.
2. When locked card is inserted , the tab is depressed and tells the camera that the card is lock.

Contrary to popular belief ,the little tab on the sd card is not an electronic switch and does not physically influence the card operation itself. If you put a locked card into a camera without a sd lock switch , you would still be able to use the card normally.

It is incredible difficult to fix this switch because of space limitations in the sd card. Look into the sd slot and if you can see the switch , use a needle to pull the little tab down toward the base of the camera by about 2mm or until it works being careful not to bend it.

If this does not resolve your problem , there might be a short in the switch circuit and the camera will need to be disassembled to resolve this error. This should cost no more than $50.

Please feel free to contact me if you need further information

Kind regards
Andrea

Hi there, I purchased an SDC02G Kingston Taiwan 2GB micro SD card to take holiday photographs which are very important to me. When i returned home from my holiday i was veiwing my pictures when i dropped...

First of all, do not save any new file to camera's memory card.

Take out memory card, and connect it to computer using a card reader. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in Windows Explorer.
Download asoftech photo recovery software

Install and open the photo recovery software, select the memory card, and click 'Start' button.

After taking dozens of pics all day my camera all of a sudden won't take a pic, zoom, etc and after a short time it says card reader error.

The memory card may be full. Transfer the pictures from the camera as normal (or directed), and once sure they are on your computer or printed out, delete all the pictures (erase) from the memory card.

Try to take pictures again - if the error is still present (or you are unable to transfer the pictures to the computer) , there may be an issue with the card. You may not be able to use the card anymore - but before discarding, see if it works in another device or "stand alone memory card reader". If it works in either of those devices, there may be a problem with your camera. Try using another memory card to see if you get the same message when trying to take pictures with the new card installed. if you do, it looks more like a camera problem than a memory card problem. Hopefully, it's the memory - and not the camera.

Last time i used it wasworking fine next day got a 'card error'

Did you try formating the memort stick.
This will clean up any error in the stick.
Don't let the battery in the camera run to low, messes with the flash memory.

My sandisk memory stick pro duo wont work anymore

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC T70 and it keeps saying "Reinsert memory stick" whenever I turn on the camera or slide down the camera lid. Also, whenever I try to view the pictures on my laptop it shows "Please reinsert the memory stick" something along those lines. As I have been researching for the solution, I would have to format the memory card. However, I wouldn't want to lose the pictures as I just took many as from the holiday last week. The only problem is the memory card, I tried using another memory card and it works fine with the camera. There is nothing wrong with the camera.\r\nCan someone please help me how to solve the memory stick problem? It would be great. Ty.

I can take pictures just fine but when I push the review button on the camera, it statesno images to display. I cannot review any pics and cannot download into my laptop, HELP I am trying to sell my home...

if the display its ok ..I suspect something wrong with the internal memory ..try to remove the SD memory card and see if the pictures are actually stored on the card..and download directly from the card using a card reader ...if you only use the 32M internal memory and didnt expend on a Sd card ...probably its full or something wrong and do not store pictures anymore ..and thats why it doesnt sow'em anymore ...try to reset the camera to default setings Im not sure but all cameras have something lik ethis in menu...and try to see again the results...but if the camera works ok ..but cause a malfunction of software it do not sowa the pictures anymore ..the solution is to download from the SD mem card directly using a card reader ...most laptops have sd card reader ..and all picture printers read from the card too

Pictures stored on card, and unable to retreive them on camera

Have you tried accessing the pictures via a card reader connected to your PC. It is possible the card is damaged and you will not be able to recover your pics. But it is worth a try. If you do not have a card reader take the card to a camera shop and see if they can see and manipulate the pics to another card, then reformat the card and reinsert it to see if it then reads anmd writes.

Polaroid Memory Chip problem

Hey ashley131,
One thing that might be happening is your SD card is set to the locked position on the side of your card. If this is not the case you could try opening the card by going to My Computer and right clicking on the memory card icon, then left click on open, and if it opens copy all the files shown and paste them into a folder of your choice, and then try opening the files using windows picture manager. If this doesn't work there are memory card recovery programs you should be able to use to recover your images just do an internet search for memory card recovery software. Once you have saved your images to your computer I would format your memory card in your camera, and the card should be able to be used again. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan
