Toshiba 47" 1080P LCD 47HL167

We are a liquidation company and have got 4 of these tvs all with the same problem. The righ side of the screen is darker than the left side.
Left side is normal, right is darker?

It seems to be split right down the middle at 50/50

    Hi

Thank you for your quick response. I don't believe there is any convergence IC on a LCD TV. Do you have a part # for the IC.

    Thank you.

Right out of the box, the right side of the screen is darker than the left side. After about 3 or 4 minutes, the problem goes away (warmed up??), and a beautiful picture is displayed. What gives?? Not called Toshiba yet.

I'm having the same issue and Toshiba isn't being helpful at all in terms of troubleshooting this unit.

The problem I'm having is the right side of the display is very dark. There are horizontal lines of bright pixels on the display. What do you think my problem is with this LCD? I believe no matter what picture that I show, it does the same thing.

Ok I have included some information that could be VERY helpful and given the correct credit to the original author. If you find this useful don't forget to rate the thread. Thank you.

SERVICE MODE WARNING:
Without proper documentation Don't mess around with the service mode adjustments unless you know what you're doing and have the service manual to guide you.
Once you enter service mode the first thing you should do is record all the original values BEFORE you change anything! - This is the only way to restore the television to its original (factory default) state should it become necessary to do so.

  • Sit in front the TV, you will need to be able to access keys on the remote and the TV at the same time. Turn the TV "ON"
  • Turn the volume all the way down to 0.
  • Press and hold the TV's front panel volume down button, and then press and hold the remote's "9" button for about a second.
  • The service mode will appear. \ -or-
  • Press "MUTE" on the remote.
  • Press "MUTE" on the remote again, but this time continue to press "MUTE".
  • While still pressing down on "MUTE", press the "MENU" button on the TV front. Release the "MUTE" button. You should now have an S (for service mode) displayed in the upper right corner.
  • Pressing MENU again should bring up the first service option Pressing the Channel Up/Down keys brings up the different service options. Pressing the Volume Up/Down keys changes the associated HEX value.
  • One you have entered the service mode, you can bring up the various test screens by pressing the "TV/VIDEO" button. For example, to minimize screen non-linearities, press the channel down key until PARA appears on the screen, with the associated default value (this is the parabolic adjustment option).
Then, bring up the cross-hatch pattern by repeated pressing of the TV/VIDEO button. You can then use the volume Up/Down buttons to change the PARA settings, this should cause the grid to bow in (concave) and out (convex). Adjust until the grid is the most linear.
The numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6 jump to different items. 9 displays SELF CHECK
The number 7 displays a grid. There's a blinking cursor in the upper left corner. The numbers 2,4,6,8 move the cursor. 3 cycles the colors (RGB), 5 stops the cursor from blinking, then when you push 2,4,6,8, you are adjusting the convergence at that point for the selected color. Pushing 7 again gives you a "warped" grid for a few moments. Pushing 7 again removes the grid from the screen.
If you're attempting to adjust color or geometry errors, you'll need the Video Essentials DVD, Laser Disc or some other source of test material.

Replace the convergence IC and check power resistor for leakage, if values are not exact replace them. Once the parts are in place perform the alignment.

Is sony klv32-a400a is a led or lcd tv

An LED TV is still an LCD TV, just with LED backlighting. That model is an LCD TV. The difference is in the backlight. Both LED and LCD TVs use an LCD screen. LED TVs have LED backlighting of the LCD screen, which saves energy.

    hi,
You have to check the back light section of your lcd tv. All lcd tvs have back light to illuminate the pixels. Two types of back lighting are there CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent Lamp) and LED. In your tv its CCFL. CCFL need high voltage 1000V or above . For providing this high voltage there is inverter stage ( back light inverter). Also there will be 12 or more CCFL behind the lcd screen. If any on of there CCFL failed the there will come a gray bar noticeable only when there is hight light.

There will be two causes for this problem.
    1. CCFL is faulty.
    2. The inverter transformer driving CCFL is faulty.

You have to check the inverter fist. For conforming which one is faulty do the following.
There is 10 independent connection for every two CCFL from the inverter board. Try interchange the two nearest connection. And watch is the line is shifting or not after every interconnection. You have to try by interchanging all the nearest to connections for CCFL.

If the line shifted then the inverter board is faulty. If the line stays there then the CCFL is faulty. Normally there will be problem with inverter transformer. If the transformer is faulty then you have to replace the inverter board as a whole.
    ok
