I had my printer for sometime and it work perfect, until two days ago when i tried scan or copy and kept getting like this black line across the document or pictures i tried to copy or scan.
I think this may be the same type of problem. When I go to print anything, it just comes across as a massive stripe of ink across the page. Are there new updates or something to correct this?
Thanks!

Sometimes the cartridge will show "good" when they actually need to be replaced. Try printing a test page, cleaning the ink nozzles, and if the problem persists, replace the ink cartridges.
sounds as if your scanner bulb is fualty I would suggest doing a power cycle - by removing the power cord while on wait ten seconds and plug cord back in or try a different power socket (preferbly a direct socket without any adapters connected to it)
Hi
I have exactly the same problem, and can't scan or make copies. I went to HP Online, and tried their advice, which didn't work. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00867129&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3177566&rule=25623〈=enHP's solution made me realise it might be a scanner problem. I made a wild guess and kept the cover above the glass panel open. Turn off your printer, lift the cover up and turn on again. The lights should stop blinking and you should be able to scan/copy/print. I guess the cover prohibits the device to scan properly causing the blinking lights.
Hope this helps!
I've had it with printers!
I'm on my second one and it's costing me a fortune!
It's cheaper to go to the library and make copies or take a disk to a photo printing booth.
My first printer was a Lexmark x73 it doesn't print anymore and I'm the un-proud owner of two almost new ink cartridges but I kept it because it sill scans and quite well I might add!
My second printer is a HP and very very inexpensive! I ran out of black ink after printing about 10 pages in a lot of black and haven't even thought about trying new ink cartrides yet!
I now go to the library!
The problem with some of these printers is that if you don't use them often enough the jets will clog and it will never print again unless you rebuild it while. Others just use a lot of ink and cost a lot!
You could try paying for a FixYas' Guaranteed Solution as it's guaranteed and someone might have a way to get it going for you again!
