Hi dear.Here is some help from the user manual.I hope that helps.Thanks. DryingRack
To use the drying rack
Do not remove the lint screen.
1. Open dryer door.
2.
Place drying rack inside dryer drum, positioning the back wire
on the ledge of the inner dryer back panel. Push down on
front edge of drying rack to secure over the lint screen.
3.
Put the wet items on top of the rack. Leave space between
the items so air can reach all the surfaces.
NOTE: Do not allow items to hang over the edge of the rack.
4.
Close the door.
5. Select a timed drying cycle and temperature, or an air cycle
(see following chart). Items containing foam, rubber, or plastic
must be dried on a clothesline or by using the Air Only
temperature setting.
6. You must select a time by pressing MORE TIME or LESS
TIME. Reset time as needed to complete drying. Refer to the
following table.
7. Press (and hold) HOLD TO START button (about 1 second).
NOTE: You must remove rack for normal tumbling. Do not use
automatic cycles with the drying rack.
This chart shows examples of items that can be rack dried and
the suggested cycle, temperature setting and drying time. Actual

How do I use the dryer rack?

The dryer rack is used for laying out clothing that you don't want to get tossed around. Example: Sweater or tennis shoes. It sits in a groove behind front door and sits in groove at back of tub.

Dryer twists and knots up clothes

Many times, many types of Dryer have a variety of paddles. There are so many different ones, without your model, it's hard to know which your has, however, I have known many people that have had these problems.
  1. knots clothing;
    Solution: I have heard and seen a couple tennis balls or even a soft pair of tennis shoes used in the dryer whilst drying clothes keep this from happening. (again, the paddles make all the difference) I myself have always had Maytag, but even they are not what they used to be, however, the shoe trick works when we dry our large blankets and comforters.
  2. Length of drying time;
    Solution: Gosh, there could be many issues, but the first, I would think you either have too small exhaust tube, or it is kinked, smashed or the wrong type. Even the smallest of kink or flattening on many exhaust tubes will greatly effect the output of the exhaust. The only other thing could be overall length of exhaust, and possible clogging in the tube. Have a idea for a fix there as well. (if this is the rpoblem.
If you would like further discussions or ideas, please post here, and be sure to add as much info on dryer as you can, including year purchased and model number.

If the drying time has anything to do with my immediate thoughts (had similar problem when I just moved and reinstalled my own Maytag) I have a great fix to keep it from happening.

Whirlpool has been a good name for some years, in fact, they own Maytag now, so I am sure we can solve your issue as long as it isn't a problem with your particular unit itself as they do make a lemon evey now and again.
