Its possible that the ballast could be faulty or the thermal fuse may be faulty preventing the lamp from lighting. have you tried cleaning the air filter which is located on the side of the set?
If you need any parts or service information for your set go to this link they will offer free tech assistance and the have the full factory service manual and access to any parts that you would need. just leave them an email and they will respond promptly.

I would go to sonysupport.com and search for an authorized service center in your area. That will probably be your best bet, As sony has had alot of issues with that model and alot of the boards have already been discontinued

I went to the web site and put in the model # KDFE50A10 and serial # 8176084 and it said I do not need the software update.I unpluged the tv and pluged it back in and it still did not work.
Thanks
I have not cleaned the air filter, but I will try to get to it and clean it as soon as I can. If it is the ballast or thermal fuse ,do you know the price of each and where the best place to get them?
Thanks
I have not tried to get any parts for this tv at this time.I took the back cover off of it and checked a fuse and it was good. I plugged it back in and it stayed on for about 3 minutes and then cut off and the green light blinked around 48 times and then it came on again by itself. Can someone tell me if I need to take it somewhere to get it worked on or what the 48 blinks mean and I can fix it myself?
Thanks again!
