Same thing happened to me when I was channel surfing and landed on channel 18.7 in los angeles.

What worked for me was turn the power off and then back on. While it is powering on press the channel button either up or down quickly. It should jump channels. It only jumped one channel for me and was still frozen. Repeat the process and I was able to jump more channels out of the trouble zone and back to normal.

Once my tv was working again. I tried to autoprogram my channels again but it still picked up 18.7.

Also tried to "hide" the channel in channel management but it would go to 18.7 and froze up my tv again :(

Hope this helps anyone that has the same problem.

I have a 26 inch Sony Bravia TV. I just noticed that when I turn to particular channels, the TV freezes. The remote and the buttons on the TV cannot change the station nor turn off the TV.

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

Hi my sony bravia kdl-46v4100 model is decresing sound before i use 20% volume to hear it but now i use 40% of volume. What should i do? Can you guys help me? Thanks!

It's probably a station channel, channels broadcast different picture and sound quality, therefore when changing channels this can be noticable. It is probably not a tv problem.

Sony bravia v series 32"

hi,
IT normally happens after factory reset is done. You need to reprogram the channels. Try the auto program (AUTO TUNING) Process.
  1. On your remote commander " Press HOME or MENU button"
  2. Scroll down to " SETTINGS or SET-UP"
  3. Then to "CHANNEL SET-UP"
  4. Select " AUTO PROGRAM " To Auto program your LCD TV and it's done..

Poor reception on one tv channel only rest are fine

If OTA, check that your antenna is pointing at the station's transmitter. Look at antennaweb.org or tvfool.com (antennaweb is very conservative with the stations that it will suggest that you can get. Both assume external antennas.) If you have an amplifier, check if it is working (I lost a local VHF channel recently when the antenna splitter/amplifier got a power surge after a lightning strike - despite it being the nearest station.)

Consider resetting the tv to the defaults and rescanning for channels. (The reset is under Menu > Picture Settings > Advanced Settings (if you use Customized Picture Mode; there is a second reset under Audio settings for those customized functions.)

I hope this helps.

Hdtv picture freeze

I also have a Brand new Sony Bravia 52" LCD with Comcast Cable (motorola box). When switching between HD Channels sometimes the left side of the screen shows a smushed version of the new channel, and the right side is a frozen picture of the previous channel. I correct this by switching to a non HD channel and back. Cable or TV problem I wonder?

DVD is wired to the VCR and does not work

The Sony Bravia should have a number of component inputs, so you should be able to hook up the DVD directly to the TV. The only reason for hooking it up through the VCR would be to record a DVD on VHS... but that's for the birds--VHS is old technology.

Each component input on the back of the TV has a number. You then select to view the component you want by pressing the remote control button to change the display (it should show with one you're on... e.g., Video 1, Video 2, Video 3, etc.).

Tuning problem

The tuner is bad. Could also be the video process, since the hi-def is decoded there
