I have a Vizio GV47L LCD TV. I bought this about 3 years ago. The other day when it was on and working fine, I went in the other room for about 5 minutes and when I came back in it was making a fizzle sound and had no sound or picture. I couldn't turn it off and all controls didn't work. The only way I was able to turn it off was to disconnect the power. I waited a few minutes and plugged it back in. I went to turn it on and it seem to come on as before but after the initial click with the touch screen buttons lighting up it locks up and nothing else happens. No control operations at all, just the touch screen buttons lit up and a black screen with no sound. Can anyone help please? It only turns on with remote, only turns off by having power cord unplugged and all fuses(F1-3) are good. I had main board replaced about 18 months ago. Could it e power board?

ANy sign of DC filter caps with open top (may be that was the sound you hear was cap is blowing its tops). You need to do some voltage checking and some visual inspection.

You have to remove the heatsink to see the caps under it.
Post back what you see.

I have a Vizio 37" HDTV that recently started losing the picture. The sound has been on continually but the picture now flashes steadily but mostly remains black. It went out one day, came back afte

it sounds like a backlight issue. It could be as simple as a few bad caacitors. If you already replaced the set and you just want $$$ toss it on your local Craigslist as a parts/repair set. There's always TV shop owner and parts scavangers that will buy the set as is. Price wise, if the set is in good condition and come with remote, and pedestal, I would ask $60 as is but you may get more

My vizio gv47l went black. where do i start

Search on blown fuses for gv47l. There are three fuses that you can check (open the back of the TV) and if one is mad you can jumper it with another fuse. I did this nad it fixed my gv47l

Fixed my 47" GV47L for $7.18... Did the F3 Fuse bypass solution, and it worked like a champ!!! No problems since! The part that took the longest was the drive to Radio Shack!!!r_to_the_k.jpg

No picture but sound

do any lights come on with the TV?, like white vizio or orange vizio light. sounds like a problem with the power board. some vizio parts have lifetime warranties so contact vizio support and report your problem. if it is covered the service call is free. there is a green led light on the power board that should come on, if it is not on, you may have a bad power board. to see this light on the power board, turn off the lights in the room and view the tv from the back cover, power board is 3/4 way toward top in the middle of the tv
