Freezer too cold frosty, and refrigerator section too warm

This problem occurred four times and unit was replaced by Kitchenaid and problem remains after four years.. the freezer section is extremely cold, so cold it freezes up the air vents solid and blocks cool air the refrigerator section causing it to be warm.. had four visits by repairmen.. none have fixed it.. should I just junk it and replace with a non kitchenaid brand?

I had the same refrigerator for four years and I am having the same problem. Frost on the freezer and no cold air to the refrigerator. I always replace the control board every year.

    Kitcheaid should give a refund!

Sounds like a defrost problem if the evaporator is frozen over. If it's just Ice blocking air transfer on a top freezer model, then it's a blocked defrost drain.

SOURCE: Refrigerator section warm. Freezer section OK.

Most likely it's a defrost system problem. One of the heaters could be bad and that will cause the coils to freeze up reducing the amount of cold air the fan can push into the fridge. Sounds wierd but, trust me, that could be your problem. Mine did that two years ago.

Hi, water could be excessive moisture, check door gasket, or check drain at back above veggie drawers, could be block, make sure produce not blocking drain hole, clean, check carefully for drain.

You have done a good job of attempting to diagnose by process of elimination, but this is a more complex system. I have provided some links below to assist you in diagnosing your problem. Links courtesy of www.repairclinic.com.

1. Ascertain that the evaporator fan is operational. This may be controlled by the Door Switch, (No.4) and could cause the fan to be inoperable.
2. Ascertain that the Fresh Food compartment light goes off when door is closed.
3. The air diffuser may be faulty by not controlling the air flow from the freezer properly

Tip: Always maintain dual temperature control settings at equal or +/- 1 setting position.

How refrigerators work:

You will need to verify operation of the following components listed below:

1. Evaporator fan motor
2. Air diffuser assembly
3. Light switch for refrigerator/freezer light
4. Door switch

How to lower freezer temperature

Not sure what you mean by the freezer too cold? The freezer section should be at or below 0 degrees C or 32 degree F. if its working properly. If the FF section is too warm and your temp control door or vent is at max cold either the vent is not moving (stuck in the closed position) or the fan in the freezer is not working.

I have a kitchenaid, KSRS25RSMS01, refrigerator and the freezer is fine and the fridge is not cooling. I have checked the evaporator and it has normal frost, and the fan is turning fine, but the air coming...

Your frig has the classic symptoms of a frig with a clogged or blocked vent between the
freezer section and the refrigerated section. This clog can occur due to (a) stuff in the freezer blocking the vent, or (b) ice in the freezer blocking the vent, or (c) both of the above.

The way a refrigerator works is it cools the freezer, and the warmest air in the freezer is vented out
to the refrigerator section. If this vent is blocked (and everything else is working), your refrigerator
just became a eye-level small freezer atop a well-insulated section of dangerously warm food.

Did you leave the freezer running while you cleaned the fridge? Warm air from the outside latches onto the cold frosty areas and has stopped the fan or auger. Suggest you switch off unit and defrost completely. Then retry.
