I have a Maytag MSD2651HEW refridgerator--it's about 4 years old. Tonight I opened the freezer and I can hear and see water dropping onto the metal coil inside the freezer--so it makes a hissing sound. Is this normal and if not, how do I fix?

The handle screws probably are hidden behind the plastic door liner which would have to be removed to gain access.

The start device on some models of refridgerator for maytag and whirlpool have been recalled. If your appliance was manufactured in the last 5-10 years you may be having an issue with this component. remove back panel from freezer and unglog hole where it collects water. its glogged

The chute where the ice drops through could be icing up, try removing the I bin and cleaning the ice build up out.

could be a leaky water valve

Check to see if you have frost on the back panel of your freezer in your fridge. If you do your coil is frozen over and you'll have to defrost your freezer. I just did mine cause mine wasn't cooling properly on my fridge side. If it is that it's going to fill the pan under your fridge and overflow.

sounds as if perhaps the overload replay has burnt up on the compressor, you can see it by removing the back cover, unplug unit and remove the starter from the side of compressor. if burnt up or melted youll need to replace it.. before you do i would call the manufacture with model and serial theyve experienced issue with some of these depending on model and serail they may cover repair

The drain is frozen over and water cannot escape when it defrosts. You will need to remove the back panel inside the freezer and run some hot water down the drain until it has thawed. Hope this helps
