It is important to know the difference between aSYSTEM RESTORE or SYSTEM RECOVERY . Restoring your system to a previous date when the computer worked fine may do the trick and to do this click start, click help and support and under Pick a Task, click Undo changes to your computer with System Restore, Follow the instructions on the wizard.

A more radical remedy may be required when your hard drive will not boot up, or when you can't get the computer to navigate through the windows you need for a restore point reset. This radical resetting of the computer is called a system recovery (not a system restore) This will put your computer back to factory settings but you will lose any files you had like pictures, music and word documents.
ASUS = F9
SAMSUNG = F8
If the operating system becomes corrupt, or if the computer is hit with a virus, the best solution is often to restore the computer and reload your applications.

Heey i cant get in my laptop i changed it and i idk how to get in it. i cant think of any password it might bee cannnn uuuu plzzz heeelll[p me

Hi and welcome to Fixya!

There's no way of retrieving the password if you've forgotten it. You could only restore the machine to factory settings and start over again. Just follow this instruction and you should be ok -

When you turn the machine on, as soon as the very first screen appears press F11. It should take you straight to factory restore settings.

Restoring the machine back to factory settings will erase all changes (including personal files) on the machine so its better that you backup your files all the time.

Hope this helps!

How do i reset my acer aspire to its factory settings

Hi and Welcome to Fixya!

To restore your machine back to the factory settings, just follow the simple step mentioned below. Be sure that you've backed up your personal files though before doing this because resetting your machine will wipre out any changes you have made on the machine.

For an Acer machine, just press Alt+F10 when you boot up the laptop. You will see Acer Recovery Management, select "restore system to factory default settings" then follow the on-screen instructions and you should be good to go.

Hope this helps!
