Panasonic viera 42 inch plasma, comcast digital cable. screen goes totally green. switch to comcast guide, green disappeared and switched channels, then back to original channel and all was normal. it has been doing this for two weeks. switching channels doesn't fix it without going to guide.

Use the tv setup menus. Menu->Audio Adjust->Stereo/SAP/Mono and turn off the SAP (Secondary Audio Program.)

The aftermarket audio/video cannot allow you hook your Tv and Dolbys stereos becauses of incompatibility issues.

the mounting screws into the tv may be too long and short out a communication cable. remove all mounting hardware and see if it still has this problem.

check out for high voltage regulators near picture board. need servicing resoldering the whle unit and heated area..try it

I had this exact same issue just yesterday. Channel info would flash intermittently. While set was in this mode, could not enter menu, change channels, etc. from remote or front panel controls. Similar to tjh492, I thought it might be an overheating issue. But unplugging the Viera and waiting for set to cool made no difference.

I then remembered that this issue popped up the instance I surfed to a particular channel (FWIW, 26-3 "Me Too" on Comcast here in Aurora, Illinois, USA). I had a hunch that there might be an issue with the signal on the channel that prevented the Viera from properly syncing, so I decided to unplug the antenna cable. Once I did that, the channel info displayed steady. I was then able to change channels (of course screen was blank as antenna cable was unplugged) and enter the Viera menu. I immediately went to channel set-up and manually removed channel 26-3 from the channel list. After reconnecting cable, Viera was back to normal. Since I'm not a big fan of "Me Too", problem solved :)

Not sure why a digital channel sync issue would effectively make the Viera remote and front panel controls inoperable. Pure speculation, but it could be that the Viera microprocessor was overloaded trying to sync to channel and this prevented any interrupts from remote or front panel controls.

We originally had a red stripe roughly 3" wide running vertically on the ride edge area of our Panasonic 52" Viera plasma tv. It has now been joined by a solid black stripe of the same width running from the top to the bottom. Living in Germany and purchased at local PX long enough ago that the warranty is likely expired. Now what?

This happened to me today on a 42 inch Panasonic Plasma... Just shut off suddenly. Turns out is was my cable box - I reset my digital cable box (unplugged and restarted) - then the sound was back on.
