Black Screen Canon Powershot A70 3.2 Camera. All of a sudden my screan went totally black. When I turn on the camera I can see the Canon logo as well as all the white symbols but the screan is totally black and cannot take any pictures. Can anyone help?
I have that same problem!!! My camera will flash like it's taking a picture, but I see nothing in the view finder, and when I download to computer ... there is nothing but black. My camera has never been dropped or ever gotten wet. It just seem to quit on me. Vacation is coming up and I have no camera! If someone knows what is needed to fix it, let me know. I don't have a solution, but I have the same problem. I found one posting elsewhere that said that this was a "common" problem. That person's camera was under warranty. Mine isn't, but it's less than 2 years old.
The mirror inside your camera lenses appear damaged or displaced which is responsible for properly reflecting light (otherwise comes out black or too exposed). Send it back for repair.
found out through research that this particular problem is a manufacture defect contact CANON customer support 1-800- 828-4040 M-F EST , ccd image sensor advisory update October 6, 2005 hope it helps some others

Your Canon A75 camera has problem in CCD Imager and this part will be replaced to get back picture.
Canon announced free of cost repair scheme for subject problem and you can see details by clickingCanon CCD Advisory.
Hope this info will help you to resolve problem.
Then it sounds like there may be an error with your CCD (what comverts the light going into your camera into a digital picture, like digital film). even if your warranty is expired canon may still repair this for free. Contact canon at 1-800-OK-CANON and explain to them the problem and that you think the CCD may be defective.
Try opening your camera, check the lens gear if its teeth are
complete. If so, check if something stucks on it. Its much better to
bring your camera to an authorized service center to re timing your
lens track... ^_^
