You are probably correct. If the inner drum is loose and sloppy you probably have collapsed bearings and seals.
What can also happen is that the inner drum can make contact with the outer drum and wear through it. This could be the reason for the leak.
Unplug the machine at the wall. Remove the 2 screws under the rear of the top. 'Bump' the top to the rear to unclip it, and remove.
Remove the back panel to inspect the rear of the drum. This will expose the outer drum.
If the bearings and seals have failed, you have quite a large job ahead of you.
A holed tank is another level of expense. It may be cheaper to replace the machine...Get quotes.
Good luck....Nomess
****BE ADVISED****
2005 LG front load washer WM2032HW, delivered to new built home, price about $1,000.00 after delivery. bearing in washer starts making noise early 2010, service technician finds crack in front outer tube that allows water to leak, that piece is $95.00, another $75.00 for bearings.
Problem - they don't make the outer tub anymore, this unit came out on the market in 2004 and they don't make parts for it. LG says, will give you $165 towards a new one after I pack everything up and ship it to them.
Recap:
- A washing machine should last 10 - 15 years by todays standards, not 5 and discountue making parts for it. (sounds like a scam here)
- Similar to buying a Honda Civic and when it's 5-years old they'll give you $1,000 towrds a new one because they don't make the muffler for it anymore.
Am I missing something?
Please help me reconcile my thought process, did my common sense co-habitat with my 15 year old sons!
Hi.heffae. Go to it...It's all yours! You've obviously got access to more info about the machine than me.....Nomess
