Send/Receive Error with Outlook 2002

We are a small company (2 Desktops, 1 laptop) using Outlook 2002 with a Linksys BEFSR41 ver. 2 router. We have been experiencing inconsistent error messages trying to send outgoing mail through our SMTP server. Both outgoing port 25 (SMTP server is on sbcglobal.net) and incoming port 110 (POP 3 server) are open.

Sometimes we can send emails and sometimes we cannot. We shut down, unplug the router and sometimes we can start to resend emails.
We hired an outside IT tech to make sure our email server is connected properly but we are still having issues.

Would upgrading the server help? any other suggestions?

Can't use either Microsoft Live Mail or Lookout Express v6 with Belkin Router. Can't send or receive email Can you tell me what the email setup is for either one? Both email programs probably use the same...

Ask COMCAST for the names of their POP-server and of their MAIL-server, and configure Outlook Express to use those names.

Microsoft Live Mail is "web-based" -- all you need to do is to web-surf to their web-site, login, and click "send/receive" or click "compose" and later "send".

Setup and confifuration of my linksys befsr41 ver 2 router

Since you did not include your exact model number and type of internet provider I cannot give you more specific instructions. Although you can refer to the links below on how to set it up. If you require further assistance just reply to this and give me the model number of your ISP and the model of your router. Linksys router limits speed to 5 meg.

Try to access the router's setup page and change the MTU settings. The default address for the Befsr41 is 192.168.1.1. Here are instructions:

1) Use a computer wired to the router.
2) Launch a browser and type in 192.168.1.1, leave the username blank and the password is admin or the password you have set when you first configured the router.
3) Click on the Advanced tab then click on the Filters tab. On the bottom part you have MTU.
4) Enable that option and set MTU to 1500, 1400, 1300 (for cable ISP connection) and 1492 (for DSL connection) and check if it will work.
4) If that does not work, you can try upgrading the firmware of your router.
