Why everything appears in Hindi which I cannot read. How to make it appear in English?

The phone (N73 ME) may not be authorized to sell in India. By default it should come if it is authorized. You may have to go to Nokia care center for updating the firmware. But please make sure you take a backup before going there. they need to update the rom so all data will be gone.

go to settings and there you will get a opption of restore default settings .once you restore it ,it will automatically changed into english language

Currently Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam are supported. When you type message in English, Gmail will automatically convert the word to its Indian local language equivalent (This feature need to be enabled ). This feature enhances the usability of the Gmail service for non-English users.
For ex, "namaste" we will transliterate to Hindi "??????", and "vanakkam" in Tamil will become "???????". Press Ctrl+g to toggle between English and selected language.
How to Enable Indic Transliteration Indian languages feature is enabled by default for Gmail users in India. If not do the following;

• Go the Settings page
• Enable Enable Transliteration by checking the box [see pic ]. If you don't see Enable Transliteration , click the Show all language options link first to see this option.
• Select default transliteration language (ex Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada or Malayalam).
• Click Save Changes.
• Go to Compose Mail page and click the language letter you set (one letter).
• Start typing mail in english. This will translate English words into your language.
• You can change the Indic Transliteration language in compose page.
