Have a gateway 7320 laptop, I'm trying to take it apart to replace the power supply connection. Is there a service manual on this anywhere ?

I'm not 100% sure about gateway but you can usually download the service manual from the manufacturers web site. Go to their support page and enter your model + service manual or keyboard replace in the search window your should be able to find it and download it then. Be aware most of the time changing the keyboard on most laptops means just about taking the whole computer apart.

As far as i know Fujitsu have not released a service manual outside of their own certified tech centers.
I'm afraid it's going to be trial and error for you at this point. Seeing as you are a tech for Gateway and Dell you should be fairly familiar with computers and their components.

Disassembling a laptop is fairly easy apart from the amount of screws that they have.
Once you have the base split and got to the motherboard, troubleshooting it will be a breeze as all the major components are on the motherboard, this includes the plug adapter which you think maybe faulty.
Just remember to take note of where certain screws, ribbon cables and connector plugs connect to.

Is your laptop receiving charge from the power supply. If not your power supply is bad. If yes.. The power mosfet of your laptop need to replace including a fuse.

Check the adapter with a multi-meter to see if there is voltage at the plug that connects into the laptop. The oltage reading should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the adapter.
Try to borrow an adapter (same as yours) and connect it to your laptop. Also try removing the battery and power up the laptop without the battery but with the adapter connected (could be a battery problem).

I compared them, the on you have is a good laptop, the one you consider to by is not.
The one you have has on mobile prosessor 2,7ghz, the 450 has an pentium4, that will get that laptop warmer and it will consume mote electricity

The 7320 have 512mb ram and you can upgrade it to 1,5gb ram if you want. The 450 have 512mb ram and thats the maximum it can have.

The 7320 has an 15.4 in TFT active matrix 1280 x 800 ( WXGA ) screen. The 450 has 14.1 in TFT active matrix 1024 x 768 screen.

The 7320 has Intel Extreme Graphics 2 Shared video memory . The 450 has ATI Mobility Radeon M6-P 32.0 MB

In my opinion, the only thing thats better on the 450 is the videocard, and that just a little bit better.

So my advice is..DONT buy that 450, there are better laptops out there for a good price.
