Phone was not in use but became very hot all over and the front screen was on but the display screen and phone would not function until I removed the battery. The phone still continued to remain warm after that for a while.

As the phone was not in use for a while, most probably, there is chance that moisture can enter the phone according to your area. So try to get it cleaned through a service center.ur phone will become allright.

From the question you wrote, it means that the phone has two problems to be solved:
The freezing of the phone, and the black screen display.
What causes a phone to freeze is when the memory of the phone has tampered and has allowed the phone to have memory loss and it will need to be restored for the phone to function normal again.
It can be restored by flashing the phone to restore the memory back.
The black screen is caused when the flex that connects the board of the phone to the front board that enable the screen to be able to display is damaged, it makes the screen of the phone go black. And it needs to be replaced for it to be able to display again.
After fixing the problem of the phone, the phone will start working properly again.
Sounds like a bad lcd flex cable, i fixed mine by ordering the part from an international parts carrier, but if you are not technically inclined to open up your phone and possibly destroy it, i would not recommend it.
IN PREFERENCES GO TO PERSONAL/BUTTONS THEN AT THE BUTTON LOOK FOR HOTSYNC PRESS IT THEN ON CABLE CHANGE IT TO PHONE; IT MIGHT BE THE PHONE HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE HOTSYNC CABLE CONNECTION. The only way to solve your problem is that you will have to format your phone by pressing the reset batton along with both function keys in front untill somthing appears on the screen.
Use the left arrow on the direction circle then when the display shows incoming call log press the enter key. If you want to remove all entries just keep pressing the CLEAR button just below the display screen untill it goes back and show RING inplace of CLEAR.
This if you do not have the buttons below the display screen you need to get a 24 button Panasonic KX-T7630AL Corded Phone and you will have the functionality to do it, the 12 button version can not delete the logs.
TAMPOO - you should buy a new phone as long as sea got in your phone not even servicing it will bring it back to full life you will always have a problem with it.
T_11111...take the phone to a mobile service center and have them fully clean the phone out.
