Try re-seating the RAM. Also, remove the Hardrive and see if it boots to the BIOS - it should without a hard drive. If it boots and you can go into the BIOS, then the hard drive is bad.
Find another computer at a local library or "cybercafe" and check at:
http://au.gateway.com/products/stores.html
for a sales location near you. They may know of a local "GASP" (Gateway Authorized Service Provider) to assist with repairs. Be sure to mention it was already in for repair in the States and was not fixed.

remove main battery by sliding battery lock to unlocked position, then slide battery release latch and slide battery out. If you are looking for how to disassemble the notebook to change the bios/cmos battery, you can get the service manual at mpcdriver.com with complete disassembly, reassembly instructions and pictures
All,
There is DEFINITELY A PEN IN THE CX2620 stylii. I just replaced mine with a AAAA battery. The old one (which is a AAAA size, you can find these inside 9-volt batteries) had acid buildup on its positive end and that is why the pen went inactive. There is a lot of debate over this pen problem and I guarantee 90% of the time it's related to the battery. I can do a clean replace on anybody's CX2620 pen/stylii with a fresh battery for $10. If interested email me at . You pay for shipping, your total about $17 or so. I have never done this before but I just replaced mine flawlessly so I can do others. I know there are a lot of dead stylii out there and people don't know what to do, took me a while to figure it out.
Thanks,
Kevin Teman

Are you sure that the lock button is completely in the unlocked position? If so, once this happened to me, and I removed the battery for about 5 minutes, then reconnected it and the computer powered up.
