You'll want to connect with an ethernet cable to your router and open the configuration page (usually 192.168.1.1 or something similar - check your instructions) using your
web browser. Check your instructions for default username and password. Once in the
router configuration utility, you'll have the opportunity to
set your network name (SSID) and select the security you want. WPA is best (more secure than WEP, which is easily hacked). Enter your security passkey/phrase and save your configuration. Go to your
wireless computer, search for available networks, find your SSID, click to connect, enter your passphrase and you should be good to go.
p.s. make sure that the router is broadcasting a compatible version that your wireless network adapter can accept: i.e. a computer with a wireless b/g network adapter can not connect to a wireless N network. If this is the problem, go into your router setup and change it to broadcast in b/g/n.
