I have a GLTF1670ASO Frontload washer - the spinning is getting louder and louder, Sounds like a jet engine taking off. It also doesn't matter what spin cycle it is on, it always spins fast and leaves little black rings on clothes. It also has now just stopped where the drum doesn't go through the wash cycle, it doen't turn at all. I have this sense that this is going to cost a lot of money to fix. The washer was purchased in 2004, should it be having problems like this? I need a washer, and will probably start looking for one, but if Frigidiare has problems like this I'm not sure if I should purchase another Frigidaire.

May have a piece of cloth, plastic etc that may be stuck on something between the belt and the drive system, have a look underneath/back to see if anything is there.

Most noises from a washing machine occur during
the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of
clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the
clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.
Friend, ngafm at your service! How old is the washer? It sounds like the tire out of balance syndrome! Like a car tire that sings or vibrates when it's out of balance! It may be a worm part thats spinning and you should call service and not take any chances, with this matter! How long has it been sounding like this? Bless You ngafm Please give me a rating here at this site before you sign off!

IF IT ROARS LIKE A JET PLANE TAKING OFF, THE SPIN BEARING IS FAILING. PROBABLY, THE REAR SEAL HAS FAILED ALLOWING WATER TO GET INTO THE BEARING.
THE BEARING HAS LOST ITS LUBRICATION SO IT IS GETTING DRY. IT WILL CONTINUE TO GET LOUDER AND LOUDER THE LONGER REPAIRS ARE PUT OFF.
THE ENTIRE BACK HALF OF THE OUTER TUB WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE BEARING IS PART OF THAT ASSEMBLY. CAN BE A COSTLY REPAIR.
