I recently purchased a Juki DDL 8700, assembled it and am now ready to sew except that it won't sew a stitch. I thread it, pull the bobbin thread up and then attempt to sew...no stitches. The needle is not pulling the bobbin thread up. The directions are vague and no troubleshooting information is available.

Perhaps you have the wrong needle or its not in the proper position?

Yes...sounds like the wrong size needle or perhaps your needle bar is not in the right position. Yes the directions are vague...I just recently purchased a new Juki 5550...which is just like an 8700 I think. I put it together myself and am still fine tuning it. The "manual" seems to have a lot of missing sections in English.

I am a swimwear designer and just got a juki ddl 8300n did I pick a good machine? How can I adjust the machine for a more stretchy stitch?! What number should my stitch dial be on to get a stretch?

Perhaps a manual would be helpful:

You should probably contact the manufacturer with questions. Hopefully, you did some thorough research before purchasing this machine. From the info I found, it appears to be a straight stitch only machine. I don't know anything about this machine, but I would be hesitant to purchase a straight stitch machine for sewing swimwear. Usually, swimwear needs a stretch stitch or zig-zag capability. Just my thoughts...

Why wont my Juki DDL-8700 form a stitch?

machine is out of time and u probably have burrs on the hook since you broke the plate with a needle probably from pulling fabric and bending the needle. you instruction manual will tell u how to time machine and its really very simple. all u have to do is take off feeder plate, loosen the 3 screws that hold the hook then lower the needle with the wheel until the needle just starts to rise. bring the loose hook point to i/16 " fron the needle and tighten hook screws. machine must be tilted back to do this whole operation. it helps to have a short screwdriver to tighten the hook screws. remove burrs with lite emory paper stroking in the sale direction as the hook.

My juki 8700 h frays thread while trying to sew

Hello Daniel, I suggest you start with a new needle. Back off the needle thread tension and the bobbin thread tension to a minimum and see how it sews. If it does not ravel the thread, you can increase the tensions until you acquire the stitch you want.

My machine won't stitch, and the tensions seems to be very high, even after adjusting it.

Hi, if your bobbin has thread, check to make sure the bobbin is inserted into the shuttle correctly. If it is loaded correctly, check to see if the needle is able to pull the thread through the throat plate.
If it doesn't have thread, then all your sewing machine will do is make little holes because the bobbin thread is what catches the sewing needle thread to form the lock stitch to sew the material together . Check your manual on the sewing machine for where it is and how to put thread into it.
