Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ20

My camera is frozen. I can turn it on and see thru the viewfinder but the shutter button does not work nor any other button for that matter. I cannot switch to the LCD screen but it will turn on in the view memory card mode but cannot advance or delete the fotos. No buttons work. It seems it just needs to be reset somehow.

I have the same issue. When I press the shutter button, picture will not take. I can only review the most recent picture taken but no others. Actually no buttons work on the camera. Neither does the zoom. The only things that do work are the Mode Dial and the On/Off switch.

    Any advice ?

SOURCE: Lumix DMC-FX01 Buttons not working

Remove the card and battery. Clean the battery contacts inside camera with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol. Be sure battery is charged. Press all buttons on camera. Insert card and then the battery. See if it works. If you can now get into the setup menu, you can do a reset from the menu.

SOURCE: Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4 black - memory card locked

Remove the SD card and slide the lock switch on it to the unlocked position. If it's already there then slide it fully to locked and then fully back again.

If this fails then you need to try another SD card to see whether it's a camera fault. If the camera is at fault then there's nothing more you can do other than to return the camera to Panasonic for repair.

I have a panasonic lumix DMC-FZ20 camera that i installed an 8g memory card but it says memory card error

The DMC-FZ20 works with MMC and SD cards, 2GB or smaller. Your 8GB card is an SDHC card, which fits into the slot but is electronically incompatible.

The FZ20 works with MMC and SD cards, 2GB or smaller. It will not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.

My DMC-FZ20 turns on but has no image in viewfinder or screen.

I never experienced anything like that with my old FZ20 but with experiences in other cameras I've found a nice, easy way of fixing things tends to be a "hard reboot" I think it's called. Turn the camera on, then remove the battery while it's still on causing the camera to shut down due to power failure. Put the battery back in and IME, all should be well.

What would cause the shutter button hard to press?

I have the same problem. The button feels like it won't press. Then as you give it more force, it suddenly goes. After that the camera works normally for the rest of the session. If I leave it sitting for a few minutes or so, the button somehow 'resets' to this frozen position. Again, forcing the button frees it and it works fine again until you put it away and try again later. Very strange!!!

My Panasonic DMC-FZ7 is frozen in Cinema Mode. Everytime I turn it on-its automatically there however there is no operating function?? Ive hit a dead end....anyone with answers??

On my FZ20, cinema or movie mode is selected by the rotating knob on the top of the camera near the shutter button (along with all the other modes). The symbol looks like a film frame. Turn the knob to P or A.

Hi, sounds like a problem with the shutter. If it is not functioning correctly, the camera usually produces a picture with lines in it. It will have to be serviced by a professional tech.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20

The lens can not move due to an obstruction.

Gently put some force on the lens, turn the camera on and it works.
