My printer keeps saying "print head is not installed. Install the print head." I only purchased black ink this time and I put it inside but it still says that there is no ink. Do I have to buy the colour cartridge to make it work or can I put another black cartridge in the colour spot?

Hello, Jordanreinha -

You will need to install a color cartridge, too.

Oddly enough, with color printers, both the black and color ink/s are used to print black. Go figure?

Best wishes.

SOURCE: hp psc 1510 - only want black ink

Hi Manavoc,

I will explain you the cause for it.

It prints in yellow first and then override with black for better quality. This is the reason your color ink gets empty.

SOURCE: Canon MP500 Printer head error

Hello,

Print heads for nearly all printers are rated at 2 years. You may also need to clean the tube from the resevoir at the ink supply to the cartridge and clean the working resevoir on the cartridge as well. If you are up to this challenge there is a how-to at your manufacturer's web site or you can have a tech do it. Most people, when they realize how inky you will be getting choose to have a tech do this.

It is best to use 100% denatured alcohol, from your hardware store, to clean these parts and tubing. But, you must take precautions.

DO NOT USE DENATURED ALCOHOL UNLESS YOU READ AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ON THE BACK OF THE CAN.

I'm not kidding about the precautions. I do all this stuff outside when there is a breeze in the air and then I stay up wind of my work.

If you have any questions whatsoever just feel free to comment back to me.

Regards,
Worldvet

SOURCE: Canon MP470: "Print Head is not installed. Install Print Head"

Some printer brands have a cute scheme that reads a "new" cartridge as good, but the refilled one has a small fuse link that is burned out by the printer. Try factory new cartridges. Unplug the printer power for a bit to reset the printer.

The black cartridge leaves blank lines while printing

This usually really means that you have clogged ink inside the delivery tube for the black ink flow to the inkjets. VERY Hard to repair, but since you still have ink flowing, switch to blk ink printing such as lots of text, and keep printing it out to see if it will clear out the dried ink in the micro tips. You can't change out the printer roller in this unit. I know, that frustrates me too! This may take a bit of time to do!! Also make sure your printer blk is up to date with new computer 'read' tabs, if not it can create read problems in the system. If you refill inks at a store, which of course is cheaper, make sure they also install the reader tab on the ink block.
Hope this helps!

I have just changed ink but it keeps saying print head is not installed . install the print head

This machine uses ink tanks.
The ink tanks are installed into the print head.
Turn off the printer and open the lid.
Make sure the head is seated firmly in the machine.

Replaced black ink but still says no black ink

Hi,
please ignore that message and keep on printing, and if your printer does not print then dont use your printer for several days and keep your cartridge out of your printer for around a week and a half, but keep it safely so that its printing head is not damaged. and run the printer without cartridge for several times . this will help the printer in identifying that there is no cartridge in the printer and after that keep the cartridge safely out of printer and run after 10 days again by putting back your cartridge
that may help you, and after this procedure the problem which you can face is of dry ink .so apply some isopropyle alcohol on your cartridge print head (don't rub it)only put some drops of it on head and let the print head absorb it, this may be done when your cartridge s identified by your printer after 10 days and the error of low ink is gone.
Best of luck
Take care and please vote for me

My printer won't print black. ink is full, other colors print. Printer tests say everything o.k.

Hi,
I would like to share with you my personal experience with printer issues. I have canon i455 printer which has black & blue color clogged. Here is the solution:
1. Buy Ethyl-alcohol/ethanol solution (70% or more). You can purchase this at any drug stores. Isopropyl alcohol may work as well.
2. Remove both cartridges from the printer head. Unplug the printer head from the printer body. Pour the alcohol liquid into paper towel layer (use more layer/thick to avoid ink from being drop into table).
3. put the printer head on the top of wet towel - with the face of HEAD touching the towel.
4. rub the head to the towel until you get rid of built-up ink on the head.
5. Pour some alcohol liquid into the printer head container (ink-receptacle area where the ink cartridge normally sits (there should be a little hole down in there where the ink actually flows from the cartridge into the head). Be careful do not touch the electronic parts. Let's dry overnight.
6. repeat step 2-5 if necessary.
7. Install the cartridge back to the printer and run several head cleaning maintenance, print nozzle check, repeat until no more dead nozzle shown.

good luck!

My printer is not printing out any black ink onto paper. Only the color is printing out onto paper. I put two brand new cartridges in for the black ink and color ink, and it says that the ink levels are...

You need to take it a couple steps further after your test print. Sounds like your print heads need cleaning or your cartridge may need aligning. It’s best to do this each time you install a new cartridge. for more information….... http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-40171-printer-not-printing-black

Ink cartridge light keeps blinking BEWARE SPAM NUMBER 1-800-532-4187

you need to print only in black if that is all the ink you have, and also you need to remove the color cartridge as it still registers in the printer as able to be used, although it is empty or near so. Did you remove the tape over the print head fron the new ink cartridge? Do a print head alignment, or use the toolbox icon to tell the printer that you just replaced the cartridge. Some HP models chip the ink cartridges so even a refill wont register as a full tank and the printer wont print. chip needs to be reset (difficult) or just replaced with a new cartridge.
