as far as my experience unlock codes are the best method to unlock your phone, i used codes from

and it worked well,you need to specify the country and network provider
Hi,first you have to have the code :-) Then insert different SIM (other network provider) and it will ask you for code.Just type in the provided code and confirm,that's it.
go to page 85 of your user guide (or here "http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/download/1/230/080/1193011122/W880i__AIUG_R1a_AE.pdf" if you don't have the book) and look at "master reset".
