I have a maytag pye2300ayw. The heating element gets extremely hot to the point it will start a fire. It takes only 2 minutes or so to get really hot. I can spit on the back of the dryer and it boils up. I did clean the lint from the tube in the back and the problem started after that

It is possible that the fan is not blowing the air enough. The lint does accumulate in the fan housing which will cause this problem. You may need to clean it out more, it is possible after you "cleaned" it some of the lint that you couldnt remove balled up and went into the fan area. Otherwise the fan is not working correctly. It is usually the lint buildup though. Hope this helps..WF

Maytag pye2300ayw will not starte

You need to make sure that you have 220 volts to the dryer. If you do, then unplug the dryer. Lift the lid of the dryer by taking a putty knife and putting it under the lid of the dryer. There are two clips that you need to push in then the lid of the dryer will lift up. In the back left hand corner of the dryer, you will see the heating element. Beside that you will see a thermostat and thermal fuse. check both of them for continuity. Most likely the thermal fuse is bad. If it is bad replace it and clean your dryer vent. The thermal fuse breaks when the dryer gets too hot. It is a safety switch.

My maytag dryer heating element gets hot but motor will not run

Sounds like you have something shorted out.

The element issue could be a contact fused shut.
With both problems I would be looking for wires melted together, or a relay/sequencer welded shut melted etc.

You do have a potential fire hazzard here. If after removing the panel you cannot locate the problem, do not run the unit.

Maytag Dryer model number PYE2300AYW will not start.

check your fuses in the dryer their is only one fuse that could shut down the whole dryer like that. Open back panel and get a volt meter and check for continuity on the fuses. HOW? first un plug it then open back then you will see the heating element their are 2 fuses on the heating element take off wires and check those. Then if those are ok look down thier is another fuses its long white with 2 wires comming out of it with a black center that should be your problem check it repair it run it . GOOD LUCK

You have a thermal overload switch that may be bad. It is located under the top of the dryer. Check first the breakers. Turn them off and then back on, then check the wiring in the back of the dryer and then the element itself. It may take 30 minutes to do all of this, but it will save you a lot in the long run.

Pye2300ayw Dryer will not start. I think it is a bad door switch. How can a confirm this?

Change your thermal fuse first. when thermal fuse goes bad either the whole dryer won't run or the heat element won't come on. Check out item # 3344 at www.repairclinic.com/Appliance-Parts?s=t-pye2300ayw-%3d%3d&z=100 If your thermal fuse is bad there will be no continuity through it.
