PSU 250W usually isn`t good with GF6600 (like and high) videocards. Strongly recommended 350W and high for this configuration (and "350W" - not only numbers in model - for really QUALITY PSUs).

SOURCE: Asrock ALiveNF6G-VSTA Motherboard. Unable to boot to OS

first disconnect ALL cables except power suppliy and frond panel switch. Startup and see if goes further.
dont forget to disconnect the front panel usb cables also !!!
if it goes better, connect he keyboard, reboot and enter bios to see.
etc etc

if it still hungs up at the start with all cables disconnected then a major chip on your motherboard is burnt (maybe the disk controller).

sorry i dont think a solution oher than buying a new motherboard.

Does the MSI K8n NEO4 Platinum SLI motherboard support the Geforce GTX 550 Video Card?

The MSI K8N NEO 4 Platinum Edition mobo, has an AGP graphics expansion slot. (Accelerated Graphics Port)

It uses AGP graphics cards that are either 4X, or 8X. (Supports 1.5 Volt AGP graphics cards, hence 8X)

http://www.msi.com/product/mb/K8N-Neo-Platinum.html#/?div=Detail

Click on the Specification tab. Look under the bold - Slots - subheading.

(Overview, { Which is the tab it automatically opens to}, Specification, Download, Support, News and Awards, Where to Buy )

This is Evga's version of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 550,

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130625

Click on the Details tab. (Overview, Details, Feedback)

Under the bold - Interface - heading, and to the right of the subheading - Interface, we see the interface is - PCI-Express 2.0 x16.

Tells you a lot right off the bat, if you know what you are looking at.

1) The graphics expansion slot you need on your motherboard, is a PCI-Express x16 slot.

You have an AGP graphics expansion slot. (That uses either 4X, or 8X AGP graphics cards)

2) The PCI-Express technology used is PCI-Express 2.0

Therefore the answer is No, Stephen.

[ More info on AGP graphics technology, and PCI-Express technology,

1) AGP:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AGP

2) PCI-Express:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express

Now if someone asks you, why the GeForce GTX 550 graphics card will not work on your motherboard, you can explain why in detail, instead of just saying some dude/dudette on FixYa, said it will not work.

Are you sure some 'Mom and Pop' computer store will not trade out, a decent AGP graphics card, for the Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 you have?
Always worth a shot. Just MHO.

ASUS M2N68-AM SE2 Motherboard Video Cards

This motherboard has PCI expansion slot then any PCI video card will work with this motherboard. If it had an AGP expansion slot then you may be able to install a better video card.
This motherboard has a built-in Nvidia GeForce video card which most likely out performs any PCI video card.

Because it has NVIDIA® GeForce 6100 / nForce 405 Chipset.
any NVIDIA® GeForce card will be the best to get, but why do you wan't a new card when the on board one is a NVIDIA® GeForce6-class graphics DX9.0 VGA, Pixel Shader 3.0, Max. shared memory 256MB?
just get a VGA to DXI converter that's what i did there only a couple of pounds.

    Upgrade Asrock Motherboard

Specs say AGP 8x. You can still buy a decent AGP card from ATI. ATI based cards seem to have AGP version up to the Radeom X1900 card. If you have some spare cash it would be more feasible to upgrade to a new motherboard which would support the new PCI-e 2 format.Hope this helps & please take a moment to rate this solution fixya. Thanks.

    ASrock P4i45GV Motherboard

Hi sandesh8, did you know you can increase the memory size of the onboard AGP card above the 64MB? Page 26 in you're manual. If you install another AGP card into the opened AGP slot, please go to this site & only use the recomended AGP cards in the Asrock list. Click on this link: http://www.asrock.com/mb/vga.asp?Model=P4i45GV%20R5.0&s=478&c=VGA
This is one of very few video cards found on the list with 256MB of video memory.

Can asrock m266a support geforce 8600gt

    Dear hiran89

Please see the specification of your motherboard at the following link of Asrock. It supports only up to AGP 4x.

    http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=M266A

The 8600GT GPU does not come in AGP setups only PCI-Express. In general even if you were to have this card then the rest of your system would bottleneck the capabilities of the card.

My advice is to buy something more suited to the system you own such as a RADEON RX2600PRO, GEFORCE 7600GT,..but still these may be still more than the system deserves right now.

Saying this the most powerfull graphics card now in AGP are the ones below

    GEFORCE 7900GS, 512MB DDR3
    ATI HD 3850, 512MB GDDR3
