SOURCE: Honda EMS 4500 Generator - High Voltage Problem

As far as I can tell on the wiring diagram for this generator there is no voltage regulator unless it's incorporated with the auto throttle unit.
To lower the voltage you need to lower the speed of the generator engine. To do this there should be a screw on top of the engine under the tank when your facing the recoil. This screw presses on a arm that controls your governor. Turning it in (righty tighty) will increase rpms, turning it out will lower them. You should see the voltage change on the voltmeter.

SOURCE: I have a honda generator em2500x voltage problem

My E2500 did this. Turned out to be dirt in the brush holders causing the
brushes to have less pressure in the slip rings. Stopping and restarting
joggled the brushes to make better contact until they wore down again.
Pull your brushes and make sure they slide easily in your holders. Also
you may need to replace them if they are worn too much or clean the
slip rings. Good luck. Doing your own repairs is fun.... especially when
they work.

Powerland tri fuel generator does not produce electricity

The most common cause of portable generators failing to produce electricity is from the loss of residual magnetism. Generators work by moving electrical conductors through a magnetic field. Your generator does not have magnets. ... When the residual magnetism is lost, the generator will produce no power at start-up.

There are a few methods of restoring a generator residual magnetism

12 Volt Generator Battery Method

Locate the voltage regulator for your generator.Unplug the two wires that connect to the generator brushes. Normally one is red and the other is black or white.Connect the black or white to the generator ground battery terminal.Plug in a light, turn on the generator breaker or switch and start the motor.Connect the battery +12 volts (red cable) to the red wire on the terminals you removed for three seconds.Remove your wires and replace the plug. The generator should now be producing power again.

Make sure you unplug the brush wires from the automatic voltage regulator or you will damage the regulator. Do not contact the voltage regulator or other wires as dangerous voltages may be present that can cause electric shock.

Fuel in oil reservoir and gushes out when cap is removed.

possibility that the float needle is not shutting off and the fuel is leaking past the valves into the cylinder past the rings into the sump
drain the sump, refill to the correct level and turn off the fuel tap under the tank
if the level doesn't change after a period of time then overhaul the carby and turn the tap off after each use

Fuel mixing with oil and filling oil tank and cylinder.

the ethanol gas has a way of ruining the rubber tip on the needle valve (in carburetor). When the rubber tip on that valve or the rubber on the Seat go bad, gas can constantly want to fill the carburetor bowl. so much so that it runs into the engine cylinder and past the Rings to the crankcase.
You can replace the needle valve and seat in the carb which is best OR you can put an in-line shutoff on the fuel line and turn it off when you are not using the generator.
Ethanol gas.. very very bad for carburetors.

Bought new. No problems until two weeks ago. Now has 252 HRS. Starts all the time, runs 10 seconds then shuts down. I have removed wire an oil pressure switch. no help. Found connector off on switch p

It shuts down because it's not making power. You are probably getting a failure to start error code. If it doesn't make power it doesn
t know its running. Rotor has lost residual magnetism to start the voltage regulator. Replace the voltage regulator. The new one is designed to overcome this.
