Emachine T5026 installing a new hard drive.

We are trying to install a new hard drive in our Emachine. I do not have a manual, it was bought in a garage sale. Please advise where we place the hard drive and what needs to be connected to the hard drive itself ? Thank you for any help with our problem.

Place the harddrive over or under the old drive.

a IDE cable most be connected to the harddrive and to the motherboard.

and a 4-pin power cable most be connected.

How do I install ethernet drivers for windows xp on T5026 emachine

Using another PC, download 3DP Net (http://www.3dpchip.com/3dpchip/3dp/net_down_en.php), put it in a pen drive and run it on the T5026. This program can install most Ethernet adapters even offline. Normally I would go to the manufacturer's website and download the driver from there but I could'n find this one.

I have an emachine T5026. Emachine tech swears this machine only supports pc2700 ram but the stickers on the factory installed ram says pc3200 256mb x 2 so i bought 2 memory masters pc3200 1gb x 2 sticks....

PC3200 is backwards compatible with PC2700. Meaning you can install PC3200 into your motherboard but it won't run any faster than would PC2700, however it will not cause any harm and should work fine.

Emachine's would say you need PC2700 most likely because they're trying to sell you some.

One of your new memory modules or the memory slots on your computer may be defective. I recommend installing a single stick of memory and booting your system. If it is successful then shut it down, disconnect the power and install another stick. Boot again and keep doing so and by process of elimination identify the bad memory stick or the bad memory slot.

This is the "likely" cause and isn't too uncommon.

Good luck.

I have an emachine t5026 that won't turn on. It

There can be two problems with your PC. either the power supply is faulty which is highly probable, and the other is that your Motherboard maybe faulty or both things are faulty. Try replacing the Power supply first. It should solve your problem.

When I turn on my machine, I get 3 beeps and my monitor tell me no signal, the model is a T5026 emachine, please email me any suggestions

Hello,

First use the following steps:

Turn off the system and disconnect power cables
Press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds.
Reconnect power cables and try to turn it on.

If it remains same, the next step will be to:
Turn off the system and disconnect power cables
Open the case and re-seat memory modules

If you have more than one modules installed, try to test the system with a single module at a time.

Emachine t5026 boots only with os disk in drive

Emachines don't use the cable select properties very well. Change your drive to Master, reformat and reinstall the operatiing system.

Have T5026 emachine with boot problem

Sounds to me that theres a good chance that the windows files are corrupted. It is possable that its could be hardware, but software is free so start there.

If youve got the recovery disks then put them in and restart. Just attemp a repair of your windows. its worth a shot. you may need to go into your boot setting to boot from disks.

if you havnt got them and you havnt got warrenty them youll have to format the drive and install a fresh copy of windows, and find all the drivers from the emachines after.

1st get all the stuff off the drive that you need/want, take the drive out and connect it to another pc or use some sort of external connection.

then find a copy of windows that matches the licence sticker on the case of your pc. throw the hdd back in and boot the disk, format the drive and install windows.

youll have to get the drivers from

After installing hard drive, monitor, keyboard, mouse not working

Have you tried to enter BIOS? Are you able to enter BIOS?? There may be an option you have to hit to enable SATA, and to select the boot device order, which may be messing things up.
Also, remember that STATIC ELECTRICITY is your enemy! Ground yourself when working inside the case.

Upgrading RAM

Incompatible RAM could be the problem. The new RAM may be too fast for your motherboard. Hope this helps.

Power Supply

Check all power cables plugged into M/board if these are correct
remove all hard ware
hard drives / cd player and anything else
except for video and memory and test to see if it boots. If it does, one of the removed hardware is faulty if it does not then you have M/board failure
