S20B RSB21 WHIRLPOOL FRIDGE/FREEZER The freezer alarm keeps going off, we reset but this does not cure the problem , we have cleaned the condensing coil, the air coming out at the bottom front is cold not warm. Over the last 48hrs it has produced one lot of ice which is almost starting to melt and the fridge does not seem to be that cold either. any ideas?

    THANK YOU SO MUCH WE TRIED WHAT YOU SUGGESTED AND TOUCH WOOD ITS BEEN WORKING FOR 24 HOURS, WHAT A SERVICE, I CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH, THERE IS NOT MANY THINGS IN LIFE THAT ARE FREE AND SIMPLE, VERY REFRESHING.

Hi I have a Whirlpool RSB21 a friend of mine gave it to me as they were emigrating the red light is on to change the filter thats ok but at the moment we do not have it plumbed in and all the readings are flashing is this because it isn't plumbed in??

Your freezer section has a defrost system problem. A device (Timer) schedules defrosts, energizes electric heaters which melt the frost, when the temperature of the coil gets above the point where all ice is melted a thermostat opens cutting the electrical circuit for the heater(s). The defrost cycle continues until the time expires (18-22 minutes). Therefore your problem could be any one of the three elements. Timer, heater, or thermostat.

If you look on e-bay, there is a chap in the UK selling repair kits. If you are reasonably mechanically minded and handy with a soldering iron, and happy to remove components on a PCB and replace them you can fix all of your issues in about an hour. The kit costs £35 with full instructions and also you can phone him for advice. It consists of a number of capacitors (as per solution #1 plus several others). I fixed mine over the weekend and am delighted with the results, no need to pay hundreds for the the boards from whirlpool!!
