Your defrost system is at fault.
Most likely the defrost terminator thermostat attached to the freezer coil.
Could possibly be a bad defrost timer.
I would have to have the exact model number to be more specific.
I have a Kenmore top mount freezer model number 74242..its only 4 yrs old...please help cuz its driving me crazy....should the fan in the freezer run all the time to curculate cold air? because mine doesnt'
The freezer fan will probably run 80% of the time.
You have a defrost problem and or a door seal problem if you are having a ice buildup in the freezer.
we already changed the door seal..so if its the defroster is that something i can fix myself or should pay the tech to come out and do?
You can do it.
I need a complete model number from the refrigerator spec plate to help you.
Kenmore Coldspot 106.74242402
The defrost ADC is inside the control cabinet.
The heater and bi-metal are behind the freezer wall panel inside the freezer.
Use the information in the link below to test the ADC.
The bi-metal attached to the freezer coil is most likely bad.
Copy and paste this link.

i watched the videos, where is the control cabinet? and the bi-metal? thanks for all the help
