I have a DIR-615 router and can not locate the device ownership password. It is not on the label beneath the MAC address. Any ideas?

This Device Ownership password is actually reffering to the WPS PIN number of your router which is usually on the sticker on the device. If you can't see it anywhere on the device, scan for wireless networks and connect to your network.
Once it will ask for the device Ownership password again, just click on the phrase that says " I want to enter a network key or passphrase instead" or " I don't want to configure, I just want to connect" ( this is applicable with vista ). If you have an XP computer and your using the wireless utility of your computer, disable that utility and use the Windows Zero Configuration.

Can't get internet to work with dir-615 router for more than a day or two at a time

If you have more than one device hooked up to the router, when the problem occurs try pinging another device. If you are able to then the router is working fine and most likely the modem is flaky and needs to be replaced. The modem supplies the internet connection, the router just applies NAT so that more than one device and use your public IP address. If this turns out to be the issue make sure you contact your ISP for any special instructions. For instances Comcast requires the MAC address located on the bottom or back of the modem in order for your connection to work, other ISP use proxy settings. Century Link has no requirements.

I'm having problems adding an additional computer of our wireless network. I have a d-link dir-615

How many computers do you have connected to that router already??? The common limit is 16. Also check your dhcp if it still has enough IP adresses to dish out to new devices trying to connect. You can set the start and end IP address in your range, with up to 100 addresses and more. And then lastly check if you have not tightened you Security to allow only spcific mac addresses to connect.

  • How do I find my routers IP Address, in Windows XP?
  • How do I reset my router back to the factory default settings?

(NOTE: To reach the configuration page of your D-Link router in Mac OS, you will need to use a Java compatible browser such as Firefox or Camino.)

(NOTE: Some routers have a "Captcha" graphical login option. This option can be disabled in the advanced options of the routers configuration.)

The red light on my d link 615 came on after I reset my router. It gave me a new password and renamed my network.

You need to enter router config page (connect via cable) 192.168.0.1 and setup cloning MAC address (this depending on your ISP requirements, i.e. VirginMedia), then rename your network and secure it with WPA-PSK2 password
