Nothing. You have already said channel, which is frequency and sub channel, which is called a lot of things. You are 99% ahead! My best guess: turn them Off and On. Then check the channel and subchannel again. One of the radios did not save the information or lock it into the memory. The On/Off cycle may save it and they will work! Let's cross our fingers. But do not hesitate to reprogram them as many as 3-5 times and look for a SAVE feature in the manual. Best of luck!

It should. 15 channels = 7 FRS, 8 GMRS. Those are all the frequencies available. The problem could come from setting the "tone" or privacy codes. Make certain those all match and they will talk. The 1080 has 38 privacy codes, I cannot find the 2280. Typically the 22 would mean higher power.

verify, either the operating frequency is not pair/same with the other radio, check the default frequency, tx/rx on the simplex mode should be the same frequency

clean the PTT switch with electronic cleaner, PTT stands for push to talk button.is it charged?

IT COULD JUST BE FAULTY OUT OF THE BOX THE TRANSMIT SWITCH COULD BE FED VIA A LUGIN RATHER THAN SOLDER CONNECTION AND IN TRANSIT THESE CAN COME LOOSE AND EVEN DISCONNECT COMPLETELY. I ADVISE TAKING THEM BACK FOR AN EXCHANGE SAVE ANY HASSLE.

To turn off sound activation press the menu button 3 times to enter VOX mode. The VOX icon should be flashing, then press the down button till the number of bars dissappear. Press the menu button to confirm the VOX off mode. You also can adjust the sensitivity of the VOX mode by how many bars are displayed, less bars equal less sensitivity. No bars and voice command is deactivated. Hope this helps.
