VERY LOUD GRINDING NOISE LG WM-2277HW Front Load Washer

Help due to a very loud grinding noise I took apart our machine at the rear including the stator assembly and rotor assembly. There was ample rusty dried water from the center of the sealed bearings all over the floor and machine parts. Only the outer tub assembly and the sealed bearings which appeared to pressed onto the spider are showing. I couldn't figure out without taking the entire machine apart how to remove the bearings to replace them and the seal. I THINK this is whats wrong. My wife says she smelled a burning smell after hearing the noise. The noise after 2 months is unbearable and I finally took it apart. Thank you in advance for your help.

I'm having the same problem with my washer(LG WM-2277HW). I took the entire unit apart, but I'm having trouble removing the inner stainless steel drum. I've tried everything. Am I missing a step or is the bearing that bad that it has frozen the inner drum to the bearing. Please help!!!

Get a new washer. Perhaps another brand.

The fix for me was to get a new washer. Had same issue with loud spin cycle. Tried researching while wife was continuing use of washer. Then the LE message appeared.

Took back apart and found that water had leaked and caused a boat load of damage. Bearings shot, seal leaks, drum leaks, Stator damaged. Same issue as 'jammy64' stated.

Cost to repair wasn't worth it. Going to get an
Electrolux model.

I contacted LG via the chat box. I assumed that since a person registers a product that the warranty period would be captured in their system. My receipt of course was thermal (no didn't make a copy). LG says without that receipt, they can't assist other than steering you towards a repair tech or repair company.

Oh well, on my way to buy an Electrolux. Guess I'll copy the receipt several times and put it in all the cool places around the house. Lesson learned.

I just experienced the same thing. Their warranty only covers parts... Labor is on you... I truly think companies should not be allowed to advertise warranty if they don't back up the product. Had the same issue with whirl pool dishwasher....These companies are truly evil and corrupt... Would not be surprised if they weren't based in Russia...

You should have used 'HE'
When you don't use an HE branded detergent it can cause the seals to go prematurely. The outer and inner tubs have a 5 year warranty (Canada not sure about the US but most likely the same) so the parts would be covered. A good tech can get it done in just over 2 hours.
Going forward, cut back on the amount of detergent, use only enough to get clean clothes. Less is best and your saving money.

We have an LG front load Mod. WM2016CW it is only four years old. It would often stop mid cycle for no reason had to turn it off and restart to get it to work Now The machine has failed completely I have the mechanical skill to fix it is suspected bearing failure but I am told that the entire outer rear tub assembly must be replaced to do that the entire machine must be taken apart and the parts are expensive Warning to anyone reading this Do Not buy LG.
I said screw it and bought a new Maytag up right. My wife is ok with that but I am poed as I was taking this LG apart I noticed other parts rusting out. It was cheeper to buy the new Maytag than fix this POS that could break again at any time.

Just had my LG WM 2277 HW bearing replaced. Technician was here 5 hours. Full disassemble to remove tub and replace outer tub. Thank goodness I bought the extended warranty. $502.00. parts were Rear tub including rubber drains and rear tub damper, spin basket, bellow w/ spring clamp. LG did not recommend tub gasket replacement, but I would recommend it since the old one stretches out when you remove it. I had the same rusty water spot on the rear of the bearing area. Good luck

My lg washer shake s alot when it is spining and makes a loud noise please can you help

The washer needs to sit on a solid foundation for this to work. When the washer is spinning a load of clothes, push the corner of the washer till the noise or vibration quiets down. When it does quiet down, adjust the leg below to reduce the noise.
Good luck

Ok my LG front loading washer agitates but when it comes to spin it makes a very irritating high grinding noise and does not spin. There is no error displayed but that may be because I stop it before it...

I have a similar problem. The washer was showing error code UE, but would tumble when empty in test mode, but would not spin and made a grinding noise. The bolt that attaches the rotor to the motor was loose and the rotor was spinning on the spindle that rotates the drum. I tightened the bolt, and it spins when empty, but still gives a UE error code when full. Remove the rear cover and check the tightness of the center bolt.

Grinding noise from the drum motor

My brand new one is doing it only after 1 week. I'm also interested in it. I'm thinking of pulling it apart and watching it and trying to find out where it's coming from exactly.

Lg wm1832cw front load washer

One of 2 things may be causing the loud noise.  Either the rear bearing on the drum has failed and will need to be replaced (very expensive) or the drain pump has a bearing problem and is making a very loud noise when it is draining (not too expensive).  Either way, you will need a qualified LG technician to diagnose and repair the problem.
