Go into the customer menu for audio---look for settings like Hall etc--one of them is set wrong--experiment a little and you will find which one is wrong---background sound is controlled by this setting.

The sound is FULL BLAST even if it's on zero or mute. LOUD is the only option.

When i turn on my tv, a reddish-orange light shows up covering the left side of the screen. Any idea what that could be?

Since the model indicated (55vg825) is a DLP which uses a lamp--it does sound like you have a damaged "optical light engine" which is a expensive repair---confirm model number to me and or Contact Hitachi about a possible recall or repair on that model.

TV Exploded

Sounds like the DLP lamp failed. You can decipher the Hitachi flashing red light. That should help to be sure.
The DLP lamp replacement is fairly straightforward and can be done with minimal tools

I have a 57x500 Hitachi ultravision digital t,v,.....When we try to watch DVD Movies or vhs,the screen has the dark side bars on the side,,how do adjust the screen to make the movies fit on the screen so...

On your remote there should be a button that says "Aspect" or "Pic Size". Press thisuntil the video fills the screen. If you do not have the remote of don't have the original remote, this setting can be found by preesing the menu button on the tv, go down to video settings and it should be listed under "Aspect Ratio", change it untill the video fills the screen.

Background sound too loud

Thank you, everyone! I thought maybe I was losing my mind. I can hardly watch a lot of the TV shows anymore due to the inappropriate use of music -- either it's too loud or there's just too darned much of it. Come on, TV producers! You are supposed to get better with time, not worse! Thank goodness I'm not alone.

Background sound too loud

Check the audio settings. You might need to reduce the surround sound effect or increase the Center (dialogue)
