Kenmore 70 Series Washer Spin Cycle Only issue.

I have a model 110.26752500 Kenmore washing machine (2 speed motor) that agitates, that pumps the water out, but it sometimes does not spin at all or very slowly when it does spin.

When it does not spin, I can manually agitate the basket and then manually turn the basket clockwise until it gets tight, then close the lid and it will spin sometimes but slowly.

Since I have not opened this machine, I don't know if it is a belt or direct drive. It does have a 2 speed motor.

Any help would be appreciated.

the macine will stoping before the initial spin cycle. When I manualy turn the knob to the next spin cycle the machine functions (spins).

I have the same problem: Only sometimes spins on its own, but it spins slowly. I can manually spin the basket while holding down the lid switch and it will begin spinning.

washer functions fine in every other aspect. Sometimes when on the spin cycle it does not spin. I can manually start it spinning and then it spins fine to end the cycle.

many machine spin a full tub as they are pumping the water out
this helps to even out the washing load and reduce the unbalance situation
when the water is removed , the machine progresses the program to a high speed spin

70 Series Kenmore Washer Agitates in Heavy Duty regardless of switch selection

Yours is a 2 speed motor. Does it spin in 2 different speeds. If so, then it most likely is designed with only to agitate in 1 speed. If it only spins in one speed, then your motor is defective

Kenmore 70 Series Washing Machine Drains, But Won't Spin

Yes sir, a bad motor coupler could cause the machine not to spin. You did the right thing in checking out the lid switch and the pump first. It sounds as if the motor coupling is worn and may be slipping. I will attach a link to a video that may assist you. Hope this helps and best wishes.

Kenmore Washing Machine 70 series

When this machine is not spinning, the water should still be able to drain, as the motor drives the pump on the same shaft as the coupler for the tranny. Set to the spin setting and depress the lid switch, if the water still does not drain, you may have something stuck in your pump, which would also lock the motor shaft and not allow it to spin or agitate. If the water does drain, check the motor coupler, which is located between the motor and transmission, if broken, the motor will run but there is no drive to the transmission. Hope this helps...
