My sister gave me her Brookstone Pure ion Air purifier....The "clean filter" light flashes red....I wiped the filter with a damp cloth...so think it is clean...?....Is this how to clean it? ....and how do i get light to shut off?

Run it through the dishwasher. I forget where I read to do that.. We do that and it's great. I have to unscrew the bottom panel and dry it thoroughly. You can't just let it sit for 4 hours like i read, you have use a hairdryer or something on it and really get it completely dry. We do that about every 6 months or so.

Wiping it off won't clean the filter. I submerse mine in hot soapy water ( oxiclean w/any favorite multipurpose liquid cleaner.Let it air dry completely before placing it back in unit.I have tried the dishwasher method and it didn't clean it.I also thoroughly wash all crevices of the unit.If red light doesn't go off, reclean the filter(s). It has all ways worked for me.
