The trick is to clean the interior using regular detergent, baking soda, and hot water; run a complete cycle without any laundry in it. Wash the rubber boot where the door seals with same mixture at which point the interior should smell fresh and clean. Now is the time to leave the door open after use so that the remaining moisture can evaporate out to prevent mold growth. Hope this helps!

I have an IQ touch front load washer. lately I have noticed a mildew smell coming from the clothes and drum after washing. i have followed the manual and completed the refresh and comlete cleaning...

Water can remain in ANY washer after the load is done. With a top-loading washer, it's easy to leave the lid up so that the water evaporates. With a front loader such as yours, however, the open door can take space in your laundry area, so we usually close the doors. I suggest that you take a dilute solution of chlorine bleach and water and put it on a disposable cloth and wipe down the inside of your washer as well as the areas around the door itself and the part of the washer that the door closes onto. Once you've done this, leave the door open until the smell dissipates OR overnight. If you will get into the habit of leaving the door open for a couple of hours after you're done with your laundry, you will probably solve the problem.
I really hope this helps. If it does, please come back to Fixya and rate my solution.

Whole in seal and a smell

Is the hole, or a tear? If its a hole, that's the normal hole to get the excess water out of the door gasket. If there is a tear, you'll need to replace the door gasket. The smell you get, is due to not leaving the door open, you'll need to leave this, and the dispencer open all the time, when your not washing. The unit needs to vent, in order not to have build-up of mildew/mold.

LG washing machine has AWFUL mildew smell

Don't know if this is the same as your problem, but I had a Kenmore washer, (made by Whirlpool) that did the same thing. It was a high efficiency model without an agitator. I finally found out that this type of washer never drains completely but always has some water left in it. This water is somewhere internal that cannot be seen unless the machine is taken apart. That water goes bad and stinks. Everything smelled like mildew and for some while my husband thought I was was washing clothes and leaving them in until they dried. I ended up having to just buy a new machine and when the stinky washer was taken away, just tilting it caused all this foul water to come out everywhere. Also I found this on the internet http://www.consumeraffairs.com/homeowners/lg_washing_machine.html
scroll down and see how other people feel about this machine. I decided that instead of buying the newest, latest, greatest, with all the bells and whistles appliances, from now on I will buy the time tested, plain jane models.

Mildew smell in front loader

Yup! I have the same issue with a WE206BNW (Canadian model). Did the same thing - dried the water off the door and leave the door open when not using it. Sort of helped, but then I ran an empty light load with bleach through it - no clothes, just water. Helped a lot.

Washing Machine smell

The problem comes from the design of the front load washers. There is always a little water left in the tub after the machine is used. Running a bleach load will deal with the mildew until the machine is used again. I leave the door open when I am not using my washer, and this does help.

Mildew smelling towels and no separate rinse cycle

the problem is your door seal if you close the door after a wash then what happens is the water goes mouldy on the inside of the door seal what you need to do is replace the door seal you will never get rid of the smell without replacing it never close the door after a wash always leave it open to make sure its your seal the easy way is to look at the inner part of the seal and it will be mouldy only thing you can do
