I have a KitchenAid Drawer Dishwasher, Model KUDD01DP and according to the Error Codes the flood switch has been activated. There is not any water in the machine and the filters and other components are clean. How can I deactivate the flood switch? Thank you.

Flood switch 920 model

Not sure what the actual model number is but usually the F1 error with Fisher and Paykel dishwasher means water has entered the flood switch located at the base. This could be due to leaky hoses or water leaking through the door or lid seal. Wait for a day or two until the water evaporates and try again. Otherwise you will have to dry out the flood switch and then try again. Location of flood switch will depend on your model. For double drawer dishwasher you will have to take the bottom drawer out from the housing and the switch is on the floor of housing. But make sure you take the mains power chord out before touching the insides of dishwasher. Will also need to find the cause of the leak. Other reason for F1 could be loss of power to top dishdrawer if you have double drawer. But in that case the top drawer will have no lights on. The power board is located on the base of housing under bottom drawer. Once again do not touch inside of dishwasher without shutting off mains power.

test this steps and fix it. God bless you

Water Inlet Valve

The dishwasher has an electrical water valve called a water inlet valve. If the dishwasher won't fill with water, the water inlet valve might be defective. These valves are not repairable and will have to be replaced.

Float

The float assembly is normally inside the dishwasher near the door on the floor of the dishwasher. If something gets stuck underneath it and holds the float assembly up, the dishwasher won't fill with water. If the float assembly moves freely up and down, the float switch might be defective.

Enter your model number to see parts for your dishwasher.

Float Switch

The float switch is actuated by the float assembly. It is a protection device designed to prevent the dishwasher from overfilling. If the dishwasher won't fill with water, it may be because this float switch is defective or stuck.

Water Supply Problem

The dishwasher is connected to the hot water supply from the house. Check to be sure the household water supply valve is turned on. Over time, calcium deposits can build up in the water supply valve or in the small filter screen inside the water inlet valve. The water supply line may need to be removed from the water inlet valve of the dishwasher, then run some water into a bucket to see if there is enough pressure. Be certain to turn off the water before working on the water line.

Fisher Paykel Dish Drawer flood alert switch

Switch the main power off and on after a short time. If the error does not go away then you have water collection in the base of the dishwasher under the drawer.

Take the bottom drawer out and try to use a couple of towels to dry out the base plus use a hair dryer. (make sure the power is turned off at the mains switch). This should dry out the flood switch.

Now about the reason for water collection - could be kink in drain hose, water leak from drawer seal, foaming due to incorrect detergent.

You have not mentioned if the error is occuring in both drawers or just one.

F1 error

Not sure if you are getting the F1 error in both drawers or just one.

This is a result of flood switch activating and is due to water getting under the drawer into the housing. Turn the power off at the mains and pull the drawer out as much as possible. Take a few towels and dry the base of the housing under the drawer. Use hair dryer if possible. Wait for an hour or so to make sure the flood switch is dry. Turn on the dishwasher. Do this in both drawers if necessary.

Reason for this is either too much foam in detergent or leaky drain hose or water getting from leaky drawer gasket.

Code F1 keeps draining constantly

Turn off the main power to the dishwasher.

I am assuming you are getting F1 error code flashing on the LCD display. This occurs if the flood switch is activated.

The flood switch is located at the base of the drawer tub. You will have to either extend the drawers out fully or take them out depending on the amount of water that would have collected at the base of the tubs. Get some towels and dry the base out. You may also need a hair dryer.

Once the flood switch dries off the drawer should work ok when you turn back the power.

The causes of the flood switch trriggering is either too much foam in detergent (use recommended detergent) or leak in water in or drain pipe.

Please remember to rate the solution if it helps or post a comment if not.

The flood switch has been activated on our Fisher & Paykel 2-drawer dishwasher. How do we reset the button?

Turn off the main power to the dishwasher.

I am assuming you are getting F1 error code flashing (if your drawers have LCD display) or the LEDs are flashing if you have intergrated drawers.

My Fisher Paykel dishwasher is flashing F1 - top drawer only. The bottom drawer is working just fine.

F1 error means the flood switch in the drawer is activated. If there is water inside when you open the drawer then you will have to manually empty it with a small container.

Most likely the solenoid that controls inlet water is faulty or the water level sensor is faulty.

Try turning the mains power and water off and on again and run dishwasher. If fault persists then you may have replace the parts.

Doulbe Draw model receiving an F1 error message.

F1 indicates flood switch has been activated. I wouldn't advise you attempt repair on these drawers- they really require an expert to disassemble (I worked for F+P for 10 years!!). Depending on which model you have (DD603 or DD601v2), repair varies. 603 has a small circuit board that acts as flood switch- located in base beneath drawer- requires drawer to be removed for access. 601v2 model has polystyrene float that acts as flood switch-leaks usually caused by split lid seal(tricky to access- drawer has to be removed) In either case, a leak has occurred and activated flood switch. These drawers are very sensitive to detergents (don't use tablets!!), and the way they are loaded.
Would suggest you get service technician to remedy F1 fault

The flood switch has been activated on my dishwasher

Remove the bottom drawer by pressing in the tabs on either side of the drawer (bottom edge towards the front).

Dry out the compartment with towels and let air dry.
