Dryer won't power up, says check filter

Question edited for clarity.

I can think of two things.

First wash the lint filter with dish soap and give it a gentle scrub with a plastic pot brush. Fabric softener can gum them up and impede the air flow.

Check the hose at the back for lint build up in the hose itself and in the tube at the back of the dryer. Finally check the flaps on the wall vent for smooth operation and they they are opening fully. If you have the old type with a circular flap, you might even find a birds nest in there!

Although the error light is telling you to clean the lint filter, it is actually registering reduced air flow and an overheat situation.

buy a long lint trap cleaner that you can run deep into the dryer. Take the lint trap out and clean all down inside dryer under the lint trap. Then clean your exhaust hose.

I had the same problem. My LG dryer lint trap did the same thing and I ordered another one for replacement. The new lint trap is not rounded on the batton on the corner below where it got bent up and snagged your clothes. The new one is cut at a slight 45 degree angle. I believe that LG changed the design a little so clothes won't get hung up on that edge. You are likely to find the lint trap/tray/filter behind the cover which goes across the bottom at the front. On some machines the cover is held in by a couple of (plastic) screws which turn just 90 degrees anticlockwise to undo. On others it simply pulls off (and clicks back on again).

HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE VERY HANDY UNDER THIS NEXT COVER-

Once removed you should find the round 'cover' for the filter which also turns anticlockwise. It may or may not have the filter/lint tray attached to it. If not you should be able to just pull it out and clear it. Putting back is the reverse!!

It is well worthwhile checking the filter on a regular basis as, if it becomes blocked, the water will not be able to drain properly. Also, if your water supply is 'hard' i.e. has lots of calcium in it (like ours) the calc CAN build up and not allow the cover and filter to come out very easily. Clearing any calc is a must.
Also if your water is hard again it is well worth regularly de-calcing the machine with a sachet of propriatory anticalc powder. I do ours about every 3 months.

Check your lint filter and make sure it is not missing, broken, or faulty...otherwise you have to keep cleaning your discharge hose

If the clothes are coming out wet and hot after the first cycle then there is a blockage in the exhaust. This blockage could be at the lint trap or at the exhaust tube leaving from the back of the dryer. You need to check the lint filter area by removing the lint filter and with a flashlight look into the area where the lint filter was to see if there is any build up of lint. If so, you will need to clean this area. Also at the back of the dryer there is a hose that comes from the dryer to an outlet to the out side. This hose could be clogged with lint or possibly kinked to where the proper amount of air flow is not allowed to leave the dryer therefore causing the clothes to have to dry longer. Check these two areas first before going any further due to these checks are simple and may solve the problem.

Yes, check filter assembly is not blocked.

Check your lint filter first, and then try to restart it. Also, make sure the door is completely shut. If this doesn't do it, check your condensation hose for blockage. These dryers are very sensitive to lint build up, so make sure to change your lint trap after each load. It's not only a good practice, but it's necessary with this machine

if it is a top lint filter take the lint filter out,turn dryer on,put your hand in it and you should feel a stong stuckion,if not remove the back panel and the 2 lint filter screws and check for clog-mike

Have you checked the lint trap? If not this is what it is talking about. If you have then you should check your dryer vent line. Your lint trap should be on the inside of the dryer. If you need more help let me know. Also if you unplug the unit after checking what I said and the light still is one. Unplug it for 1 minute then plug back in this should reset everything
