I unplugged to defrost and plugged back in and my deep freeze would not work

Try plugging something else in the outlet. A lamp would work to make sure you did not trip a circut breaker when you plugged back in after defrost.

REPLACE THE DEFROST ELEMENT IN THE FREEZER SECTION, WILL BE AS NEW AFTER THAT. REGARDS RUSS

Spray it out with neat bleach (wear old clothes), lemon scented works well, then flush the unit out with water, I use a high pressure cleaner but hose will do, tip it on its side if needs be, it wont harm it. Ensure not to get water in any of the electrics, allow a day to dry out and hay presto, a fresh smelling freezer.

Either the freezer needs to be defrosted or it went into defrost and didnt come out. So most likely your defrost system has failed. A good way to check this will be to unplug freezer for about a day or 2, and let it defrost manually. Should begin working properlt again when plugged back in . The problem will return suggesting your defrosy system has failed.
What is the make and mod of the freezer so i can tell you how to access it.

let it run on auto defrost,then set temp to normal freeze,should be fine(keep the doors shut......)

The symptoms you describe are a locked compressor. A compressor replacement on a deep freezer is usually around $400.00

the compressor relay is gone For a few dollors you can still save it.

I am not an expert, but if the defrost heater is not working, then maybe when it was unpluged the coils didn't completly unthaw. If not, the freezer still will not cool properly.
