Frigidaire freezer #ffu12f2hw - 1 1/2 yrs old. Had 2 episodes where food was cold, but not freezing; the first time it happened, the door was accidentally left open. Both times after unplugging it, and manually defrosting it, and it started working fine again; episodes occurred almost 1 year apart. Is this a problem with the automatic defroster, or can this happen when the door is accidentally left open?

Keep the door closed by all means any small opening can leave the freezer start to defrost slowly without you knowing it

Frigidaire upright freezer not freezing bottom shelves and door. Unit is manual defrost and about 15 yrs old.

If Door seals are sealing properly, itā€™s probably a freon or compressor related problem

FREEZER WILL DEFROST AND THAW OUT FOOD. THEN WILL START FREEZING AGAIN IN A COUPLE OF DAYS. THIS HAS HAPPEN 3-4 TIMES IN LAST 6-8 MONTHS. WHAT COULD BE PROBLEM?

seal around freezer door may be warped/old/cracked... or thermostat is not working properly.

Try duct taping door as tightly shut as possible and check around the time it freezes to see if that fixes the problem. If so, the seal (that has magnets so it will seal completely) needs to be replaced.

If that doesn't fix the problem, it could be a faulty thermostat in the freezer.

See if you have 120 volts at the compressor if you do do you hear any clicking sound at compressor if not replace compressor Start Relay/Overload if you hear clicking sound the compressor may be bad or Start Relay/Overload the only way to know is to replace the compressor Start Relay/Overload. If you do not have 120 volts at the compressor jump out the thermostat you should have 120 volts at the compressor now if not you may have a defrost timer Prob. if this is shelf defrost unit check timer turn knob to see if it starts.

Freezer/Refrigerator tempurature swinging wildly

The compressor is overheating and not starting. Could be just the start relay. If this happens again try unplugging it for about an hour then it should work for a while. Heat between doors is normal this is an electric heater designed to keep the doors from sweating. You just noticed it because the refrigerator wasn't cold.

Frigidaire freezer, only 2 bottom slelfs freeze

If your freezer is six years old the compressor warranty is also over. Sounds as though the system has lost its refrigerant charge. A refrigerant leak in these smaller units is difficult to locate and somewhat expensive to repair. Your choice.
