I have double wall unit Thermador oven. After self cleaning, the door can not open. Or may be I hit the panel lock , so the door is lock. How to unlock?

Hello April,

If any OVEN FUNTION is being used...
The controls cannot be LOCKED off...

So no... REQUIRES PUSHING 2 buttons & holding
for four (4) seconds... (not likely to be accidental)

The steps to Lock & Unlock are the same...
(see reference page (click here)
Thermador SCD302 Care And Use Manual Child Lockout

Touch and hold the COOK TIME pad and
the STOP TIME pad simultaneously for 4
seconds.

Likewise SELF CLEANING is described in great detail.

The control panel display is so light that it can not be read. I have a double built in oven SCD302. What can be done?

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

There are two common scenarios with these Thermador wall ovens fitting what you've described. The harness to the display from the control board is loose (not likely) or the display itself is failing (most likely).

The issue with these displays is they lose their intensity over time because of the fluorescent tube technology they use, hence the only remedy is to replace the control/display kit...the display only is not available, but a "kit" is.

You can find these "display kits" at "repairclinic.com" and similar to what I've attached here...

**Your other option, and the one I recommend, is to have the existing display and control rebuilt...the down side is this will require the parts to be removed and sent away**
You may find other suggestions or "band aid" remedies on-line, but in my experience this is the sure way to go. Here you'll find all the info pertaining to this option by clicking on the link I've provided below

Hope this helps move you forward. Let me know if I can assist you further and good luck.

Thermador Built in oven scd302 not heating upper oven, lower oven fine. Heating element not glowing red as the oven below it does.

Hi.

Problem is usually either temperature probe or heating element.

Grab a multimeter and set it on impedance (Ohms).
Remove first temperature probe and then heating element.
If either probe or element is reading open (ohms infinity), then replace the part.

If both probe and elements are not open, then the problem is either wiring or oven electronic control. The most common fault resulting in no heat is the temperature sensor located inside the oven cavity.

The control panel on my Thermador scd302tp will not light up. The oven works fine. The appliance company wants to replace the entire control panel. Can it be fixed for cheaper?

Hello, welcome to Fixya. To answer your question "Is there a cheaper fix?" In a word...maybe. **Turn off the breaker before attempting any service suggested here please** The first thing to look into is to check the harness which comes from the main relay board to the display head, they can become unsecured from the display or the main relay board/control and that will affect the display in a negative way, i.e. faded or no display illuminated. You may or may not be surprised how much those things vibrate under normal use with the cooling/convection fan running etc. and over time the harness becomes unsecured. Check "J1" on display head as well as "J1" on relay board of the display power harness and insure they are secure in place, wiggle them a bit to see if the display illuminates when turning the power back on. If that doesn`t yield any positive result`s you`ll need a new display head kit part # 492067, it comes w/harness and main relay board ( see image below ) and it is typically about $250 or so, but I haven`t had to purchase one in 4-5 yrs. I`ve checked repairclinic.com and their site says it is discontinued, but if it turns out you need one I may have one in my garage. ( I used to have my own appliance business, hence I still have some "new old stock". we can communicate via email if need be ) Let me know what you find and how it goes with the harness check, I`ll watch for your reply on your post here. I`ll cross my fingers for you it`s just a loose harness. Hopefully this was helpful to move you forward and shed some insight on what to look for at least. Good luck macmarkus :)

Thermador Display

Have 2 Thermador ovens, SMW272 and SC302. Both have display failure. Just repaired one with replacement display. It did not require a new control unit or harness. Have not opened up second unit yet as display is still dimly/slightly visible.

Called Thermador and received no offer of replacement parts or service. Numerous other web reports of similar failures. My neighbor has 2 dead ovens also unfixed because of outrageous repair estimates ($600 each). Do not recommend this brand.

Full kit including display, control, and harness ordered on Ebay for $170.
