How do I fix my realtek speakers? They play sounds and music but while doing so the sound icon in the taskbar is showing movement from bottom to top with sound increasing as it goes upwards?

Open Device manager and right click on "Realtek HD Audio"
Select 'enable'
Right click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select 'Playback devices' ensure that Realtek is checked as the default speaker device
Right click alongside the speaker icon and make sure they are not disabled
Use the 'Test' facility to check the audio
You may have to update the driver as well

The sound is not working on my webcam, i have made sure that the driver is installed and everything, and that it is enable in the properties of the volume control panel.

Try setting up your audio from the beginning - I dont know your computer set up ( desk top with add-on speakers or laptop with built in speakers or your OS ) So I will give you a general example using :-
Laptop with built in mic x webcam with built in mic x Vista OS x Yahoo Messenger

If you have an earlier OS, you may have to access some of your hardware ( speakers and mic ) from the Control Panel.

TEST SPEAKERS
Right click on speaker icon in System Tray
Select "Playback Devices"
The speaker icon ( checked as working) and volume level graph should be visible
Right click on the volume graph and click "Test"
Left hand speakers followed by right hand should be heard

SET DEFAULT & TEST MIC
Click "Recording" tab.
To set required mic as default - click on mic font to highlight and click "Properties"
In lower dropbox display "Use this device enable" click OK
Click "Levels" tab and ramp up sliders ( adjust to suit later)
Return to "Recording". Test mic by speaking and make sure volume graph displays
Restart computer
CONFIGURE TO MESSENGER

Open messenger - on top toolbar. Left click ( > ) Messenger > Preferences > Connection - Select 'no proxies' or 'connect direct to the internet' depending on the version of messenger you have
make sure your internet connection and country are correct in the lower two boxes > Apply > OK

Click ( > ) Messenger > Preferences > Calling and Audio
Set mic and speakers to show Default equipment
Run call up assistant to test audio equipment > Apply > OK

People can hear me but i can't hear them

You do not say what your audio setup is - if you have a laptop you are using the built in speakers or a desk top with add-on speakers. Also you do not say what your OS is

Here is Vista x laptop x Yahoo Messenger
TEST SPEAKERS
Right click on speaker icon in System Tray
Select "Playback Devices"
The speaker icon (checked as working) and volume level graph should be visible
Right click on the volume graph and click "Test"
Left hand speakers followed by right hand should be heard
If no sound is detectected, click on Speaker icon to highlight, click 'Properties' ramp up sliders - test again

SET DEFAULT & TEST MIC
Click "Recording" tab.
Set required mic as default - click on mic font to highlight and click "Properties"
In lower dropbox display "Use this device enable" click OK
Click "Levels" tab and set slider to 100% (adjust to suit later)

If you do not have Vista - you will have to access your audio equipment via the Control Panel

Sound from one speaker with mic plugged in.

Hi I am Vortash it sounds to me that this is linked to the realtek program off shutting off the speakers when the earphones are attatched , it is confusing the Mic plug on one channel as a speaker plug .. check in the advanced section of your mixer settings that you have not got the box ticked that says treat all inputs the same .. and the other that says mute rear when front plugged in ? as does mine .. ( same system that was my problem yours may be diffrent ) if this fails uninstall your realtek drivers and uncheck the realtek devices in device manager unistall them and rebboot the computer installing new drivers .. hope this helps regards Vortash

My microphone on my acer aspire one isnt working

I had the same issue. This is what I found. It seems the Realtek audio and the Microsoft volume drivers are conflicting with each other. If you look at the bottom right (next to clock) you should see the usual grey speaker icon (Microsoft Master Volume controller) and you may also see a reddish speaker (Realtek audio) icon. This should indicate that both are controlling your audio.

If you click [start] - [run], type: msconfig and click [ok]. Click on [startup] tab at top. Look under startup item and uncheck: RTHDCPL then [apply], [ok] and restart your netbook. After it reboots the only audio icon that should appear is the grey speaker (microsoft master volume controller). Your mic should work now. Go to sound recorder and test. You may also need to upgrade to the lasted audio driver from the acer site but try shutting down Realtek first.

Acer aspire desk top t180 has no sound

Sounds like he forgot to plug back in the sound cable when he took his iPod out. Simple fix for this. Pull out the desktop box (computer) and find what should be a green sound cable and plug it into a green port in the back of your computer. If your having trouble as to what it looks like, get your son to identify what he took out of your desktop to listen to his iPod and plug it back in. Also check that your speakers are turned on and are up on the speakers and on your desktop, which you can find in the bottom right hand corner near your desktop clock. The icon looks like a speaker and just click on it once and make sure its up all the way and not muted. Let me know if this works or not

Hope This Helps
