EVRYTHING IN THE PICTURE HAS A GREEN TINT TO IT, AND IT IS GETTING WORSE. I HAVE REPLACED THE BULB ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO WITH AN AFTERMARKET PART. WHAT COULD THE CAUSE OF GREEN TINT BE? AND IS IT WORTH REPAIRING?

Mien557,

Your problem is a bad optical engine. These units run with alot of heat and sometimes it cooks the TFT panels or the panels weren't made correctly and go south sooner than expected.

You will have to replace the optical engine or have a technician do it. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4251975-replace_dlp_light_engine which explains in detail how to remove the old engine and install a new unit as well as where to get it at the best price.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the generous rating.

Green tint on tv and picture randomly cuts out

Sounds like a Sony, if it uses a lamp the green cast is most likely the optical light engine in the set---major part.

Sony KDS-50A2000 screen is in green tint

My Sony KDS 50 A2000 is 17 months old. Its the 50 Inch SXRD projection model. About two weeks ago the screen developed a green tint with cannot be tuned out, then a few days later the message began to appear on the screen that the bulb was nearing the end of its life and must be replaced.
Fortunately I have the Circuit City extended warranty.
I called and within just a few days a serviceman came out and replaced the projection bulb.
The Result: No change in the picture, the green tint remains on all channels, so I'm awating the next service call. Under the service warranty they have the option to repair or replace this set. If indeed this is the light engine (optical block) which I suspect and its going to cost $1,000 or more I may be looking at a new set.
When it works this is a great TV, but I have had three Sonys now including two other standard CRT models and now this one joins them in the junk heap, the other two also bit the dust after just about two years. Is it time to give up on Sony?
I know they have a class action suit on a similar model for this same problem. Caveat emptor

Orange projection lamp on. Picture is a bluish green, no true white.

If you are in warranty contact Lg electronics since they own Zenith. I was having similar difficulties and they are sending me a replacement tv even though I am out of warranty by 3 years.

Icons green tint to them

I'm not sure but I think this model uses an integrated graphics card which would then involve replacing the entire motherboard.

It may be that the screen backlight is getting old - they often age by showing a tint, usually it is pink but I have seen them go greenish.

Try an external monitor connected to the laptop via the VGA d connector. If the picture on the external monitor has a good colour balance then it is probably not a faulty graphics chip, and likely to be the laptop screen.

Green Picture

I guess it's missing blue. Even if you see the blue crt working it's not enough and focalised. replace the coolant in it and also check if you have some coolant leak on the crt pcb.
