I have a Dell 1610 DLP projector that needs a new chip. I can't get the case open. Can you provide instructions to open the case?

after the screws are removed you should be able to see some snaps from the side that can be depressed with a small screw driver. Probably about 4 of them

1) How to you open the cpu case to get to the fan, etc. 2) My fan has started making noises......can it be cleaned - or is it likely to need replacement?

Things You'll Need:
  • phillips Screwdriver
  1. Shut down your Dell desktop computer.

  2. Remove all of the power and peripheral cables from your computer. There should be no cables connected to your computer when you attempt to remove the cover and open the case.

  3. Watch for the green "Power" indicator light to dim. This light is on the back of the case near where the power cable plugs in. Your computer will hold onto an excess amount of energy for a few seconds after it is unplugged. You don't want to open your Dell computer case while this light is still lit.

  4. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws holding the side of your Dell desktop computer's case. Set the screws aside.

  5. Use your hands to pull up on the side of the case, separating it from the base of the computer. This will allow you to access the inside of your Dell desktop computer.

Remove Dell Dimension 2400 Cover - I have been to the Dell site and read the documentation. But opening the cover seems to require two people - or three hands! Are there any tricks of the trade? Thanks!

This is a rather simple case face to remove.

Remove the side cover and place the unit on its side. hold the bottom of the face with 1 hand and pull gently while popping the 4 clips inside the case on the bottom end.

After you have done this there should be 1 on the side you can pop then there is a metal flexible peice at the top, pressing that down will relieve the top clip.

Place the case upright while holding the face out, after this the case will pop off to the opposite side of the case that the case opening is on.

Need to unlock bios password on dell laptop, have service tag # and ends in 59b

Hi,

If you have loast the password, to reset the BIOS password you need to remove temporarily the CMOS battery , so to reset BIOS settings.

Some model may be using NV Ram, in that case removing the battery is not enough.

The battery is located on the lower side on the motherboard.

On many DELL models the battery can be accessed from the side of DVD slot, battery slot, or RAM slot, without disassemblying the laptop.

On some model you may need complete disassembly (eg. Dell Le series).

The battery looks like a couple of coin batteries wrapped in plastic.

Before disassemblying or removing covers, always unplug adapter and remove battery.

On Dell Inspiron 8500 the battery can be accessed from a side , after removing the primary battery.

I think Dell 8500 can be set to use NV Ram to store the password.
In this case the problem cannot be solved removing primary battery, then accessing and removing CMOS battery for few minutes.

If you still cannot reset you have two way out.

Disassemble completely and access the NVRAM microswitch, or contact Dell and get master password.

You can also try one of this standard Dell factory CMOS password:

ALFAROME
BIOSTAR
biostar
biosstar
CMOS
cmos
LKWPETER
lkwpeter
setup
SETUP
Syxz
Wodj

How do i remove panel to install memory on dell 3000

Countryboy,

On most DELL desktops, there is a button on the top and bottom. If you push those at the same time it releases the catch holding the case together. When they are released the case will fold open, there is no removable panel. it is a hinged mechanism.

Hope this helps you out
